Alright! Adam's posted, so we're continuing now!

Calkoom - Take 2.

CaveCricket (4 + 1 = 5)

You attempt to be stealthy, but you fail to see where the fog is densest, and remain almost wide open.
Calkoom swoops by once again. (8 v. 8 ) You hop to the side and take a swing with your longsword, but you miss.

Ociamarru (4 - 1 = 3)

You attempt to smash the statue of Calkoom, but he swoops by once again and the gust of wind is so fierce that it knocks you down, away from your target.

caekdaemon (9)

"Well, time for us to either die horribly or strike epic poses while fighting this thing."
You're hoping for the latter.

Calkoom takes another swoop down at the party, (8 v. 7) and before you can react, he's hit you across the right arm. But he only caught it slightly, preventing you from attacking. You're perfectly unharmed.

Torrent (4 + 1 = 5)

You prepare for Calkoom's next attack with daggers at the ready. You're just about to leap at him when a gust of wind hits you, knocking you off balance. He swoops in for the attack, (8 v. 4) catching your arm heavily, and nearly knocking you over. You clutch your arm where his claw impacted it and slashed across the surface of the skin. Ow.

Tokochiro (8)

You scurry to the top of the shrine and get ready for Calkoom's next pass. He flies towards you. (8 v. 6) You get hit by his wing, but manage to hang on to it as he flies by. You're not exactly where you want to be, but it's a start.

Then you look down.

"Oh, GOD that's a long fall."

Then Calkoom turns his head. He seems to have noticed that you're clutching his wing. His eyes blaze with hate. Oh, no.

Adam (4)

You swing your chain whip around in fast circles. Calkoom dives in to attack, (8 v. 4) and hits you in the chest with his claws. You keep your feet, but your chest hurts where you were hit.

Gabriel attempts another swing at the bird as it comes down on the party, (8 v. 3) but he is hit hard in the shoulder. He grits his teeth and yells to the group.
"Swinging at this this isn't working! He has the advantage of flight! We have to bring him down to our level!"
Status
-Left Shoulder - Clawed (Bleeding)
-Pain (-1)

SO MANY 4s.

"Its a damn shame no one here has a range weapon. We should try and move to higher ground."

Look for any hills in the area.

Post Re: Roll to Dodge - Illusia (Roll #54)
Hey, guys. I'm thinking of implementing a new rule, here.
I see that both Ociamarru and Torrent are attempting to repeat actions from last turn. It could potentially be very frustrating if they fail continuously.

Therefore, I say THIS.

As long as a move does not involve combat, it shall gain a +1 modifier each turn it is repeated after failing. If the Player stops repeating the attempt, the modifier shall drop back to 0.

The reason I'm not letting combat rolls do this is because people will just keep spamming the same kind of attack until they don't fail, eventually creating an attack that is practically unavoidable.

Also, in order to assist me in knowing when you have been repeating a move, I need you to do this:

When repeating an attempt, type next to your move, [Repeat x#]
So, if you've JUST failed at doing something and you want to try again, type, [Repeat x1], meaning, "I am repeating this for the first time, so I deserve a +1 modifier."
But remember, you cannot gain modifiers from this rule in moves that involve combat. Only other things, such as that statue that Ociamarru is trying to break.

Hope this helps some of you guys in the long run.

Use my broadsword to stay on that bastard, try to get to his chest, right on his shoulders.

Try the wings instead. They usually are more flesh then bone, and would cut easily. Get enough damage to the wings and you could probably bring it down to earth, making this fight alot easier.

Also, Toko, when you say you want to use your broadsword to stay on him, what do you mean?

You either want to throw your sword over the top of his wing and use it as leverage, or you want to jam the blade into his wing and then hang on to it.

You're probably going with the latter, aren't you?

The battle continues!

Torrent (1 - 1 = 1)

One action at a time.

You focus your healing powers upon your arm, but they seem to short-circuit. Enraged, you try harder, resulting in a shower of magical sparks from your hand. You begin to feel woozy.

Ociamarru (4 + 1 - 1 = 4)

You try to smash the statue again, but seem to forget how to aim your hand. You grope around halfheartedly.
Fix that freakin' nose! If you haven't noticed, it ain't fixin' itself! That's because dislocated bones don't fix themselves!

caekdaemon (2)

You look around the area for hills, but most of your view is blocked by fog. You don't pay attention and soon Calkoom is flying at your exposed back. (9 v. 3) He rams you, full force, with his great bulk. Something cracks. You feel a sharp pain shoot up your back as you fall to the ground.

Tokochiro (8)

With a yell, you thrust your sword into the wing of the great feathery menace. The bird half-caws, half-roars in pain as the sword slides all the way through the vulnerable flesh. It flips into a barrel roll maneuver. (Roll for hanging on = 2) You lose your grip on the handle of your great sword and plummet through the air. You hit the ground, and pain explodes from your side. You try to get up, but your right arm is throbbing with pain and refuses to respond.
Suddenly, ahead of you, a blast of light punctures the fog.

CaveCricket (YOU CANNOT FAIL THIS ROLL)

Desperate times call for desperate measures.
You take out your top and spin it on the ground.
"Mysterious top is g-"
A blast of light knocks you backwards onto the ground. A beam of white energy erupts outward, shoots into the air, and strikes Calkoom. You hear a crackling sound, and then the bird comes sailing downward and crashes into the pond with a splash.

Steam is rising from his body. Is he... dead?

Adam (Useless roll is useless)

You're about to attack Calkoom, but then something huge blasts him out of the air and sends him into the pond.

Did we win?

Gabriel lowers his weapon.
"Is that it?"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Steam continues to rise from the unmoving body lying in the pond. The entire group just sits and stares, all of them lost in the same thought -

Is he really dead? That was only THREE ROUNDS.

The rollers can't help feeling a bit disappointed.
But then, the steam seems to get thicker. It merges with the mist, and coats the body of Calkoom. A cocooning fog surrounds him. A sharp wind blows through the area, and feathers fly about the air. Calkoom's feathers?
They're everywhere. It's like the bird god is shedding them pound for pound.

A splash is heard. Suddenly every muscle goes tense. Another blast of air sweeps over the pond.

But this one is accompanied by a roar.

A great lion emerges, steaming, from the pond. There are traces of feathers about his orange coat of fur. No wings seem to remain.

Calkoom is very much alive.

Another thing!

Adam has said that he'll be gone until Wednesday. Three days.
However, that doesn't mean I'm going to stop Illusia completely in that time.
I may post one more round without him. I will not penalize him for such a round, but it will allow the rest of you to continue playing.

I'm not sure about it, but I may.
