Post Re: Roll to Dodge - Illusia (Roll #51)
ANNOUNCEMENT.

I will be leaving for a trip tomorrow (Friday) at 12 noon. I will be gone until the following Monday, when I will arrive back home at around 9:00. (Maybe later.)
I will probably be ready to start posting rounds again in the next 12 hours after that. (Sleeping.)

To sum it up, I will most likely be unavailable for the next 105 hours, possibly excluding a few hours the morning before I leave.

So, go ahead and post your moves if you are reading this and are yet to do so, because I may be able to get a round in before I must leave at 12.
Other than that, I will have absolutely no access to a computer during this trip.

Post Re: Roll to Dodge - Illusia (Roll #51)
Okay, guys. I have just arrived back from my vacation in which I
bicycled,
ate ice cream,
drove a speedboat, (at overly high speeds)
avoided horse droppings, (they're like a freaking minefield)
swam,
tanned in the sun, (and burned, inevitably)
got a headache, (the least fun part of the trip)
kayaked, (quite a workout)
drank large amounts of soft drink,
and slept.

... Yeah. You guessed it. Sleeping was my favorite part.

It is currently 12:30, and I'm so tired that I feel dizzy, so I'm going to get the game going tomorrow morning.

You're lucky, my family can't afford vacations. Be glad with what you have - my summer has been really boring so far, being stuck in central Wisconsin is just about the last thing I was hoping for this summer.

Well, then. Let's give you something to think about this round of RtD.

Also, all of you traveling to Ancients get insta-success no-roll moves, since It'd be extremely stupid to impede the process of the story with a bunch of failures.

caekdaemon (-)

"Whoops."
You walk, whistling, out of the shop. The man gives you a quizzical look as you leave, but then shrugs and continues his work.

You make your way to the shop that Gabriel is in.

You feel better.

Torrent (-)

"Got nothing better to do..."
You walk casually over to Ancients.

Ociamarru (11 - 1 = 10)

As the lizard flies towards you, everything falls into slow motion, and every detail becomes clearer. Your instincts must be kicking in again. And right now, you feel HUNGRY.
With a single deft movement, you swipe the lizard upward with your claws... and catch him with the mouth of your hat. The wolf head continues to bite the lizard into many bloody pieces as you stand there, adrenaline still pumping. Woah.

You feel really energized.

The bloodied remains of the lizard falls to the ground, since your hat can't actually eat things.
Ew.

Tokochiro (-)

You go to Ancients.
Yay.

CaveCricket (-)

You walk out of the door without a word. You get a strange feeling that you should've done something to bring justice to that con-man...
You make your way to Gabriel.

Adam (-)

"Probably not. I get that from a lot of people, it's likely i look like someone you know. But I've gotta go, so seeya!"
The man just stares as you rush out of the door and make your way to Ancients.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gabriel meets everyone at Ancients. There is an old, withered looking man at the desk. He introduces himself.
"Why, you must be Gabriel's friends. I am Timothy Quint. But that name hardly suits me anymore. You may call me Mr. Quint."
Everyone sits down.
"Where's Raphael?" Gabriel says quickly.
There is a silence.
"Eh. We can get this done without him. He'll be here eventually, anyway." Gabriel shrugs.
"So," Mr. Quint says. "We need to decipher this riddle you've been given, eh? Let's see it."
Gabriel hands him the scroll, reciting the poem by memory.

Quote, unquote
I'll leave next note
Upon the land that sings.
And many words
Fly out in herds
Of hurtful lions
Upon swift wings.

"Hmmm."
Mr. Quint takes a while, simply staring hard at the scroll, pressing his glasses into his nose.

....

"I think I've got it."
There is a sigh from the entire party. Gabriel leans forward.
"So you know what we're supposed to do?"
"Yes I do. You did well to seek out Auid. That is undoubtedly the place that the riddle speaks of. However, there is a place in Auid that the poem secretly refers to. And it makes this silent suggestion with this line, here."

"Of hurtful lions upon swift wings." Quint says.

"This line is surely referring to the shrine that worships the god of the sky."
Mr. Quint continues, while hobbling over to his closet and rummaging through the many papers there.
"In olden times, a tribe lived here where Auid is now located. This tribe was called the Sho-Tee. They were a kind group, helpful to travelers, and always ready to make peace before war. The Sho-Tee worshiped an ancient sky god that they called Calkoom. In direct translation, it means "Graceful Cloud."

Here Mr. Quint unrolls a scroll on the desk. It depicts a very old-looking drawing of a great bird with wings made of cloud. It looks very much like a bird, but it has the head of a cat. It has very long, trailing whiskers. In general, it looks weird.

"The Sho-Tee worshiped this god for a long time, until one day, war struck their lands. They were attacked by a neighboring tribe. My records are sparse regarding this time, but I believe they won that war. In fact, most of the people in Auid are actually descended from the Sho-Tee."
Mr. Quint closes the scroll.
"I believe that the Sho-Tee stopped worshiping the god Calkoom after the war. This god was long forgotten by the entire people. And I think that this ancient god is the one you are looking for."
He pauses.
"You can find the shrine directly north of this place, at the shore of the lake nearby."

"Good luck."

Aight, I sent him a PM yesterday, and we've waited long enough.

Sadly, this round is going to be just as uneventful as the last. BUT. We are getting on with the story, so it's a bit of a trade-off.

Excuse my rambling. Let's get on with it!

Adam (-)

You pull out your chain whip (even though it's been out for a while now - the * sign means it's equipped.) and start walking north.

Tokochiro (-)

You go north, following Adam.

caekdaemon (-)

You walk north with the group.
"And here I was hoping we would not have to seek out a old god. Oh well, I hope it can cough up a glyph or something."
Gabriel turns your way.
"If gods cough Glyphs, I hope this guy has a cold."

That would make your journey quite a bit easier, wouldn't it?

Ociamarru (-)

You find your way back to the group. They seem to be heading away from town. You follow them wordlessly.

CaveCricket (-)

You follow everyone else.

Torrent (-) (Missed this Round)

Hey. Why is everyone leaving?

....

Maybe you should follow?
Yeah.
You should.

You follow the group like a sheep.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After a few minutes of walking, the sounds of the town fade away, and the path ahead gives way to thick fog.
You arrive on the shoreline of a body of water - none of you can discern how large it is. On the edge of the shore is the shrine you are looking for.

It depicts in stone carving the same bird with the cat's face that you saw back at Mr. Quint's shop. The image is a classic, forward-facing statue. The bird appears perched on a strangely decorated rod....

Gabriel steps forward.
He stands there for the longest time as the tension in the air builds.

"Uh... what are we supposed to do, again?"

*Facepalm*

"We don't know!" one of you says, a bit loudly.

"Hm."
Gabriel walks forward and says, "Hello?"

Nothing happens.

"Helloooooooo..."
Gabriel waves his hand in front of the statue's face. Again, nothing happens.

Then his hand accidentally brushes it.

The entire place erupts into a shower of light. A Large explosion is heard and all of the fog is blasted away . Gabriel falls over. Everyone holds their hands over their faces instinctively.
Something has erupted from the statue. Wind buffets the party in blasts.

Then there is a mighty roar, and everything goes silent. Fog once again settles over the area.

Several footsteps are heard - giant, pounding footsteps. Two glowing eyes emerge from the fog.

There is another mighty roar, and a wave of heat that burns the skin. The fog dissipates into a hissing frenzy, and the shadow shows itself.

CORRUPTED GOD OF THE WINDS

CALKOOM

A giant bird with lion's face and searing breath, driven by pure hate and rage...
