Post Zombies!
I recently came across two indie zombie games.

One, Rogue Survivor is a roguelike wherein you survive in the zombie apocalypse. The setting has a Resident Evil 2 feel to it.

The other, Project Zomboid is an isometric zombie survival RPG, with destructible environments and other survivors.

I'll give my opinions on Rogue Survivor when I have had a proper go at it.

Project Zomboid reminds me so much of Fort Zombie.

That game redefined difficult for me. I never knew a zombie could take 6 revolver shots to the face to go down. Or when I blew off a zombies arm and a another zombie grabbed it and attached it back on. Or when I found out the most powerful weapon in the game was the M1 Garand, but that was ages ago. Or when I found out the game hated ATI cards AND Nvidia cards.

Seriously though, if you want a realistic survival experience against zombies, try Fort Zombie. Scavenging for supplies was never so fun!

Rogue survivor appears to let you play a Zombie. Downloading that.

Pay2Play?

You sure that's the right game?

This is the fort zombie I was on about.

Pardon the bad graphics, the gameplay more then makes up for it.

Had a crack at Rogue Survivor. Total human defeat after 7 days.

Dayum.

EDIT : Urgh. Nevermind my moment of stupidity...

Post Re: Zombies!
I heard Fort Zombie was wracked with horrible bugs.

Rogue Survivor... the premise is good. However, it seems to end up as a mad dash, with each district either being overrun completely by zombies, or zombies being mashed by humans.
Supplies seem to run out in the first day or so: Houses get scavenged in the first minute, whilst shops are still full of stuff for a long time to come.

Good thing: Ranged weapons are few and far between. Whilst each cop may carry a handgun or shotgun, and the sports stores carry lots of ammo, you rarely find many guns.

To sleep, it is best to go underground.
Also, raiders are irritating.

It was. Patches have fixed all that though.

Here is a tip if your gonna play Fort Zombie.

Police Stations make a excellent fortress.

EDIT : CHAR employee's in Rogue Survivor = Death Commando.

caek, is FZ meant to be as hard as sin?
I mean, starting off with any class, you often miss in melee combat, and the pistols are inaccurate as ♥♥♥♥.
And even when you land a hit, it tells you that you missed.

I got to the station, by sprinting and hiding, and then started a barricade, then gave up for the day.
What am I doing wrong?

The starting pistol is incredibly ♥♥♥♥. Get a better one. Trust me. It really pays.

When doing the early game, you should not do barricades, they ain't need yet. Get other survivors instead, they REALLY help make the early game easy. Another tip in the early game is to avoid enemies until you are ready to fight them. Use the pistol as a way to get out of a emergency, not to run and gun.

I loved SCZ. The game is quite neatly crafted. There's not an overly abundant narrative or driving story, but you can do missions and interact with society to learn about what's going on and to progress the game. It's practically a sandbox game. Imagine an isometric Grand Theft Auto with zombies chucked in and that's pretty much this. There are opposing factions, special zombies, hidden locations, secrets, etc- it'll give you a solid 10-15 hours of gameplay, and it's totally free.

Oh, and there's a customizable character creation system and the towns that you play in are randomly generated for each character, so it's never the same experience twice.

There's also Dead Frontier, a zombie survival MMO. It's still in beta I believe.
And ZDay, which is another zombie survival MMO and is still in the works.

Survival Tip's for Fort Zombie.

1. Don't go out at night. Damned zombies are out at night in higher numbers.
2. Carry a backup weapon.
3. A weapon is to get you out of a bad situation, not to mow everything down.
4. You will probably need alot of ammo.
5. Try to get a few other survivors to help you. Each survivor can carry a gun or bullets.

More zombie game!
Class3, for XBLA, looks interesting.

In Rogue Survivor, a tactic that works for me is barricading myself into a food shop for a few days.
