Everyone is facing more or less the same direction and as such the Panthers attempt to sneak around behind them. Johnny asks for some help and Andrew turns sideways to look at him - he catches the tiniest movement in his peripheral vision and drops to the ground, just in time. The Panther leaps at him and only barely catches his scalp with its razor-sharp claws before vanishing into the trees again. A trickle of blood drips down his temple from the small scratch. Then that Octo-leg Robot fires its machinegun at the Panther and Asfer practically obliterates the surrounding trees with several grenades.

Also, I came up with a new way of adding up the roll modifiers: Instead of just putting all applicable parts of the action together and adding one big bonus to the roll, I'll just use them for each specific action that they apply to. Look at Requisite and dhart5000's rolls for examples of this.

He continuously feels energy ebbing into his body, warming up his body- he hadn't even really noticed how cold he'd been since he'd burned out his powers when fighting the tribesmen. Suddenly, he sees a shape in the trees up ahead, and fires towards it without hesitation. He doesn't hear any sort of response from what he was firing at, so he cautiously advances forward until he gets to the spot where he saw the creature. Something is shining dimly on the forest floor, lit up by a thin ray of moonlight that's managed to pierce the canopy- blood. He follows the trail, hoping to track the creature, but is disappointed to see that the droplets continue for only a few yards, then vanish. There aren't any on the surrounding trees or brush, but he can't fathom that a bullet wound would clot so fast. "Hm. Maybe I just grazed it." Fred pulls out his M240 and reloads it, then hoists up the big weapon and starts looking for any sign of the panthers. He peers into the blackness of the forest, and suddenly sees a little glow behind one of the trees (Roll + Life Detection = 5) He takes aim and fires a heavy burst of rounds towards the shape (Roll + Life Detection + Commando = 6), but he seems to have jumped the gun, so to speak- the panther was still behind the tree, and the bullets aren't strong enough to pierce through. The cat flees as soon as the first bullet hits the bark. "Grrr... dammit." Before his frustration sets in, Fred feels the hairs on the back of his neck stand up (Roll + Awareness = 5), and whirls around just in time to smack a panther with the front of his gun. He hears a little growl from the beast in response to the impact, which sends it veering off to the side, but it quickly flees into the dark woods, behind too many trees for Fred to keep track of it. It gets up and skitters away, hampered by its injured leg but still quick enough to escape the burst of PDR rounds that David sends towards it. Having come to a decision, she tries to detect any nearby panthers, but she's unable to definitively pinpoint the location of any. Facing towards one side of the woods, she takes a breath and gathers up a considerable amount of energy into her right hand. "Butenko Raisen!" she yells, slamming the ground with her fist and sending a shockwave towards the trees. Unfortunately for her, all this does is uproot the nearest three trees and cause them to fall towards her. Die creeps around, trying to find another panther- she doesn't intend to be caught by surprise again. Suddenly, she hears a twig break to her right, and she immediately hurls a fiery chain towards the noise. She hears a yelp, and in the dim light produced by the red-hot glowing chain, a silhouette is clearly visible against one of the trees. She slings back the chain, intending to pull the panther off its feet, but it sprints off into the darkness at an extraordinary speed. "Hmph. Well, I probably did more than just singe his fur. Hope that burn hurts, asswipe."
