Books! (I spent 30 min trying to think of some witty title)
So, i just got a kindle (win. just, win) and I have spent 6 hours staring at it thinking of a good book to buy, and i think people on here have similar interests and stuff. So, Any ideas?

The Lord of the Rings, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the Bartimeus -trilogy, Artemis Fowl series and the Inheritance Cycle. Just something off the top of my head.
EDIT: Oh Redwall too.

You have just invalidated any right you may have had to claim good taste in books. Really it depends on the kind of person you are. Do you like Fantasy? Crime? Scifi? Are you old? Young? One of my favourites would be Ishmael, which is a sort of philosophical allegory type book. I don't necessarily agree with all of the suggested views but it's really interesting and entertaining. I like "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", it's a bit more of a mature thriller type book. Wheel of Time is ok but it's horribly bloated. About 5-10% of each book is fantastic and the rest is filler. I'd say go for it, if you get bored you get bored. The first couple books are definitely enjoyable, though. Orson Scott Card is great for Fantasy/Scifi, wrote the famous "Ender's Game". Jack L. Chalker is another solid writer who takes himself a little less seriously than Card. Piers Anthony writes amazing tragedy, though most of his books are half porn. Hitchhikers is always fun. George R. R. Martin writes great short stories. Definitely a writer you should check out if you're serious about Scifi/Fantasy is Dan Simmons. Hyperion is spectacular but takes some work to understand. If you're talking about teen fiction like a lot of people are suggesting, I would definitely recommend Artemis Fowl and Redwall. Maybe some Cornelia Funke as well. Monica Hughes was also great in that period of my life.

Oh I forgot, the City of Ember series. Believe me they are a billion times better than the movie... same with the Percy Jackson series. If you have a lot of time get the Chronicles of Narnia. And finally, get Atlas ShruggedI linked it because I haven't found it in my nearest books-a-million, so I do not know if it is just sold any more. It is the book that Bioshock is loosely based on, at least the idea of it anyway.

Jack Vance. I grew up on Vance. Demon Princes series is definitely awesome, and a good archetype for his writing. If you like the Demon Princes, you'll like pretty much anything by Vance.

Cien años de soledad.
I don't know if it was translated to english, I suppose it was because it is a very famous book. If you can find it, read it, it's one of my favourite books.

Also, if you like that sorta book, read all the Tom Clancy's books. Not the Ops-Center or that ♥♥♥♥, but the Ryanverse books.
