Just wait for the defenders to starve to death.

Not if they maintain a large distance away. A Roman siege that happened in France before followed a standard siege. They simply built a wooden wall around the town and waited.


The defence of the town failed because of lack of food meant no one was able to defend.

If they know about the hallways, we should be worrying even more because the Roman's are probably searching for them aswell, and if they find them they could pour into the town's centre.
