I don't want troops or any of that. I want to control the defence plans construction wise, not the army.

I told those villagers to focus on choke points. If we do this right, we might be able to pull off a 300 moment. We aren't as nearly as outnumbered as the Spartans were in the battle of Thermopylae, and we have ranged weapons plus firebombs (and a spiky trench). I think we have a chance if we play our cards right.

And it's not like we have to kill every single Roman either, just enough to make them think that they're gonna lose.

We just need to focus all the Romans to a single chokepoint, use our ranged weapons to destroy their ranged weapons, and we should be fine. Those fire bombs will do hellish damage when the enemy is crammed close together.
