No matter what the blocks will be available to you, as you would have to install the mod to connect to the server. Or, you'd have to use the modded client I would provide, whichever you like.

It's a server API. You can install mods to it to, say, let you do large-scale world editing with some textual commands.
Additionally, while we're on the subject of mods, worldwriter would like the planes mod installed.

I say make a collection of the mods you wish to add and add them.

Mods would make the server a lot more interesting, as long as they don't cause a crash every 2 minutes.

I'm a little hesitant about the plane mod however, all it takes is a greifer and the give command, and before you know it the entire server is covered with napalm explosions.
