Would you guys be willing to install a mod to connect to the server? Even if you didn't make use of it, you'd still have to have the patched Jar (and it's quite complicated stuff so I wouldn't blame you).
I'll provide a patched Jar and even an installer for windows if that sways your opinion any.

Well, this seams VERY complex but can bring great advances for dose who use it. So for those who don't want to dig in the new things it would only make it unfair. Some mining with rock pickaxes and some with friggin mininglazorz?

And the currently genned area will remain unchanged, the new ores will only spawn in newly genned areas.

Well I don't like, say, the EXP boost on items / EXP guild bonuses in Wow either (thats why I quitted) but I don't particually compete with all the folks on the server.

Well the world of Minecraft is fundamentally different from WoW. In WoW, you can't transfer experience and some items to other people. In Minecraft there's no such thing as arbitrary experience, only concrete items and constructions that can and often are transferred or shared between people.

Yes, I did not say it's in the least bit close to WoW in anyway. I just pointed out the unfairness of the mod and what I don't like about it.

Though as I said I'm indifferent about using the mod.

@Azakan: Well I was countering your unfairness argument. In WoW you can accumulate intangible things that make you somehow better than everybody else without doing anything different. In Minecraft, the value is in concrete things that are not specific to anyone.
The difference is that there is no more "unfair" advantages, you can't become somehow better than everyone while doing the exact same things, you become better by spending time and effort on improving your home and immediate surroundings. Effort is directly rewarded rather than gathering the best combination of items and gear that boost your exp.

You could make the same claim about my current home. I have the most mineral wealth of anyone on the server (I think). Is that then unfair?
There's nothing stopping you from going down into the ground and mining everything, or building a huge farm and harvesting all the wheat, or collecting eggs, milk, sugar and wheat and baking a ton of cakes.
