Re: Art Dump
Alright, kids. Calm down. No one really cares your opinion on furries; a piece of art was posted, judge it on that basis.

Re: Art Dump
Ok, the shading suggests the face is oval, the hair has no shape, and simply put the entire face lacks features. Not even going to start on the eyes.

Re: Art Dump
I think that style is way overplayed, but hey, it's better than anything I could come up with. And Maniac, I sense a little bias there.

Unless it's a reference, never draw faces/organics head on, mkay? Also, wtf no light source.

Re: Art Dump
My mediocre art really isn't all too great, I realize. The shading sucks, the features are weak, and the style is overplayed. As for the appeal of furry fandom, it's just a way to express yourself I suppose. It's not like I am a furvert or anything.

From a 'artistic expression' perspective, I feel that if everyone's (myself included) reaction is 'Hm. Furry fetish.' Then you haven't succeeded as an artist. I suppose it would be a little like painting in sheep blood or something. Regardless of what I paint, nobody would think of anything other than the fact it was sheep blood, and wouldn't really notice the real message in my work.

Re: Art Dump
Uh, I think you're confusing your expressions there Dr. There are two types of expression being confused, artistic expression (in which you convey a message to the viewer) and self expression (in which you create an identity for yourself). Being a furry is a self expression, which can then be expressed to someone else in art through artistic expression. He's talking about self expression, and you're talking about his attempt at artistic expression.

Re: Art Dump
Yeah but this is the art dump, you dump art here, not 'post your intepretation of your inner self'.

Re: Art Dump
...And he did dump art here, did he not? It just happened to be an artistic representation of self-expression.
What's up with all the furry-hate anyway? I never understood the stigma against them. I mean, I'm not into it, but I'm not into lots of things. Doesn't mean I hate on them.

Re: Art Dump
He did dump his art here. He was answering the question of why he drew himself as a furry. Now if he had just come in here and begun a rant on how he was a furry and proud of it and you haters better go ♥♥♥♥ yourselves, with no art, then that would be against the rules of the art dump thread. As it is, he is perfectly within bounds. Now shaddap.

Re: Art Dump
Hey, I made some perfectly normal artwork! Seeing as my birthday is today, I thought it perfectly acceptable to "bake myself a cake, in classic pixel art style. Here it is, after an hour of work (I suck at pixel art, okay?). I know it's small, but the best gifts come on small digital canvasses. Also, though it may be hard to tell, there is a lot of shading in there. If you really want to attack me on it, just save the picture and zoom in for a better look.

Re: Art Dump
You shouldn't shade with lum, you should shade with saturation, hue AND luminesence. Plus, if the shading isn't visible, you might aswell not shade it. Oh and, the candles look a bit weird when the fire fades into dark greenish blue.

IT'S AMAZING! And, even more coincidentally, I was born on my mother's 22nd birthday, and, according to my grandmother, our hospital room number was 222 (I can't validate that).

That's pretty cool. I remember playing hero core, made me make some 1-bit stuff.
