You can use it with lightning, you can use it with fire. Not sure if it has less of a kick than water, though.
What Water can do that steam can't: Heal Spirits.

A technique that works well for me is using 5Water AoE, then picking off people with 5 Lightning targetted.

Anyone know if Weapon spells are useful? (Have elements ready, hold Shift, hit attack).
Earth + Water seems like it could be.

They do tons of damage, fast, so if you're in a tight spot you can take anyone out in front of and to the sides of you with an Arcane attack.
