Re: Art Dump
I've still got some cleaning to do but it's coming along. Not sure where to go for the "relics", I'm going to have to ask for clarification on that one, or should I do a character instead? Choices to make. 5 hours of pixelling in, a day and a half in on the calendar. This exercise is fun. 8 16x16 tiles and one 128x64 set piece.

Re: Art Dump
Sometimes I see an awesome pixel picture that looks like it has enough character in itself to make a game out of. That is one of those pictures, Geti. Love it.
And I think you should make a character, like a hooded refugee/outcast with a cigarette, leaning on his shovel. That's my opinion.

Re: Art Dump
I'd like to make a game out of it, but don't have the time, I'm going to try to make another game from scratch by next monday.
That style (16x16 earthy colours) is one way I'd love to tackle EXILE, if I can't afford to hand paint everything.

Re: Art Dump
6 hours work total, 2.5 calendar days total. Now I've just got to do all the assets and code for a game to go onto a platform I've never developed for. No fear. Madmax there's kind of too much sketch and not enough pixel art in your pixel art. It still looks fine but it could be so much nicer.

Re: Art Dump
It's not supposed to be pixel art, just good old shameless sketchiness. Thanks though.

Re: Art Dump
Well then your colors don't blend nicely enough. I'd syggest you pick a media, digital art in general or pixelart, because unpolished pixelart looks p bad.

Re: Art Dump
Sometimes I just like working unrestricted and messy. MS Paint doesn't have to mean pixel art, I just like the lack of anti aliasing.

Re: Art Dump
True that, Max. Anti aliasing is so annoying sometimes.
Now, if Microsoft could make paint more in-depth, despite the fact that is would defeat the purpose.

Of course, don't we all, I was just suggesting that applying some pixel art practice to any of those sketches when/if polishing them up would add a lot.

Re: Art Dump
This is going to be a game, luck withholding. Props to anyone who identifies the character designs. Everything's going to be cleaned, but I wanted to play around with scales. This is what I came up with. So much content to do it's not funny, considering I've got so little time to do it. Rushed work, obviously

Re: Art Dump
I drew a sweet new robot during school, it took about 4 hours to do all of the shading and such. And yeah, it went off the side of the page. I originally just drew the right arm to practice making things look metallic, but decided it was good and went from there. Though it sucks that my shitty scanner doesn't capture the full value range on it, it was very well shaded. And another shading exercise, here. I also drew on the cover of my sketchbook in pencil and teal colored pencil, and decided to scan it in, while I'm going crazy here.

Re: Art Dump
Very cool Ben, 2nd one's feet look a bit odd though. On my end, I made a nice self portrait. Outlines are my last priority but in all I'm happy with the shape, maybe fix up the mask a bit though. That ribbon deserves a very long and painful death of being erased though.
