The proximity trap that I have in mind was almost like an explosion that launches the enemy far away, as a deterrent to stronger enemies that aren't hurt by the flames. But, you are free to interpret it as you wish.
Also, wouldn't it be cool to have a master switch? You can turn your traps on and off as required. Or, have a high-power version of the burner trap that can only be turned on after certain cooldown. It would be like the Firestorm system from the Tiberium series. The similarities are already there with the current traps I think.
PS: Just had a few games with the traps and I really liked them. Watching them slowly cooking green clones to death.
