Post A new member with new questions.
Hai mai naim iz Cpt.Obviouz and I iz on interwebz.

Okey let's not continue down that alley. Hi my (virtual)name is Cpt.Obvious (obviously).
I enjoy the most indie games and most games in general. One of my hobbies is 3d modelling
and I'm potentially looking into that kind of career choice when the time comes.

Enough of that.

I found this wonderful little game last week and have been trying out the demo since then.
It's one of the most enjoying games I've played in quite some time and I'd love to see it
evolve into a more refined product as the development continues.

I've been doing a fair bit of stalking and lurking around on this forum and the website. So now I've got some
questions that I'd hope to get an answer to before I buy the game.

1. B24. From my understanding this build was obtainable from the Humble Indie Bundle #2
but isn't obtainable from the website. I have seen the post that Data made with an
link to download the B24 but I'd like to have some info on how it works. When I buy
the key from the website do I type that into the register option on the B24 build or
the B23 build and it somehow carries on to the B24? I would very much appreciate
any good explanation.

2. What changes are there from B23 to B24? Is there any offiicial documentation on that? (linky, linky?)

3. From my experience with the demo there isn't any skirmrish mode where you can play
against an A.I controlled enemy bunker (like the toturial). Is there any mode like that
in the game?

4. I'm just curious, On an average how long does it take between the different releases
of builds?

5. Is there any list of the most used/best mods? (I've already found some that have
been referred to in many threads. For example: UniTec.) If there aren't any list of that kind I
would very much appreciate some recommendations.

*If there's some obvious answers on these questions right under my nose I very much apologise.
*If any mod think that this thread doesnt fit in the section it is in. Feel free to move it.
*I am in fact from Sweden so if some of my sentences is messed up then it's becuase of that.

I am looking forward to becoming a part of this community! :)

1. Once you buy a key once, it works for every build.

2. There are a lot of content tweaks, such as weapon strengths and actors' jetpacks, and there is also a new "Skirmish" menu and the Campaign function is removed until it is fixed later.

3. Not anything official in B24 with actual enemy bunkers, but there are fan-made missions you can play that fit your description.

4. It varies. A lot.

5. This thread has a list of the "best" modders, so it's safe to assume anything you see made by them is a "good" mod.

And welcome! Good to see new members.

Welcome fellow new guy, looks like you'll be a good fit around here! I've been stumbling around looking like a dummkopf however.

Also, if you want to know more about changes in B24, check the devlog, or search for Data's posts in the game discussion subforum (this one). Should tell you everything that's been made available.

Post Re: A new member with new questions.
Thanks for the replies and the welcome, everyone. I bought the game this morning (Swedish time/GMT +1) and have been trying it out since then. I gotta say that it's a lo(ooo)t of fun and awesomeness but (Stop reading here if you're not intrested in my hopes for potential gameplay changes and jump to the next peice of text.) I'd like to see some kind of research system. (In skirmrish) So that you don't have acces to all the weapons, crafts, et cetera. from the beginning and that you got a bit more solid goal to work towards. I would also like to see the skrimrish mode called Brain vs brain to be playable against the CPU (Maybe with pre-made randomly picked bunkers or with bunkers that randomly generate from scratch?) Also it would be nice with an upgraded A.I. (Note: This is my opinion from a gamers view and not a programmer. I've got some very basic knowledge with C and C++ but I've got no idea about A.I programming and most of the coding involved in game making. I would also imagine that it would be pretty hard to make better A.I/A.I Pathfinding when you've got an completely destructable environment.)
*Feel free reply if think that these suggestions would add or subtract from the gameplay experience.

Now that I've said that I'll continue on with some additional questions

1. In the 24B there doesn't seem to actually be any place to register your key. Is it becuase that the build isn't realeased officialy on the website? So it isn't needed to register your key in the 24B until Data implements it?

2. When you edit your bunker before a skirmrish starts there's two grayed out options: Save bunker/(re)Move. Can you actually use those two somehow or is it going to get added later? If it's going to get added later is there any current mod/workaround that allow you to use those features?

3. For some reason I can only make airdrops on a specific location on a map. How is this location determined? Can I change it somehow?

4. Where did the Heavy brain robot from 23B go? I can't find it in 24B.

5. Any idea of why the wiki is down? It would propably be very helpful for answering a lot of these questions.

Actually, there is currently a working wiki. Check the "Contribute to the Wiki!" thread.

Remember that we'll be getting a proper wiki up in the not too distant future.

Just a warning, to my experience the wiki isn't too helpful about those kind of questions. More like information for modders, iirc.
Here's some good mods for you to try:
MaximDude Corp.
Map Pack 3
UniTec
Smart Brain
Especially the last one. It will stop your bodies which are in AI sentry mode from
moving around so that they stand proudly and return fire to the enemy without acting like some cowards.
