Vlad dips the Biplane to the right, levels out quickly and locks the joystick. He stands up from his seat as the Biplane passes about the one third mark of the clearing, takes a deep breath and dives over the side of the cockpit.
Time seems to slow.
He falls down towards the lower wing, reaching out his hands to slow him down. As his palms touch the wing he lets his body roll over and onto his back. His momentum carries him through the somersault and his feet touch down. He springs out as hard as he can, again in mid-air, and sees a frozen - or very slow moving - and shocked Kyle lying chest-first on the ground. Vlad floats through the air, almost relaxed, and then the ground comes up to greet him.

Kyle watches as Vlad guides the Biplane closer to the trees then dives lower into the clearing. He watches as Vlad climbs up and dives over the side of the cockpit. He watches as the Biplane suddenly wobbles as it flies toward him. He doesn't want to watch any more.
Kyle turns and dives onto his chest just as the Biplane roars over his head. He looks up in time to see Vlad tumbling through the air, crash into the ground and roll, like, 15 feet. When he stops rolling he lifts his head a fraction then lets it fall back onto the ground. If there are any hostiles left at the battlefield that explosion, and the fact the plane was in plain view, would have surely disclosed your position, I suggest moving to a safer location/wake him up and then moving to a safer location.

I was just noting a very likely possibility and a solution for it, so relax. It's not like I ruined the adventure part of the game, I only suggested something that will let them live longer seeing as they are in the middle of a clearing and are exposed.
