By "pinning", I'm guessing that's the stuff above the "most used" programs in the start menu.
I have Firefox, Minecraft, Paint and Dwarf Fortress.
The last 3 take a while to get to through regular means, as they're on my desktop.

Actually, by pinning we mean pinning stuff to taskbar in Win7.

Either way, using the start menu is just habit.

The taskbar is much faster and convenient.
And Vista still had the old-school taskbar.

I know what it's used for, I just find it ridiculous... I don't care what ya say, I hate pinned stuff.

that completely defeats the purpose the start menu and the taskbar; why would you minimize whatever you're doing in order to do something else?

ALSO! I ♥♥♥♥ love win7's half-window snap feature, and the fact that the shortcut for it is so goddamn easy

as a matter of fact, I just really like the way win7 lets you do window management. it's not perfect, but it's really goddamn useful.

ps: if you use the keyboard shortcut (win key + arrow) you can do it on multi-monitor setups

I downloaded a gadget, and now all my icons are compressed into one little thing. I hit it, and all my icons pop up. It's like a useful start menu. I actually removed the taskbar and placed it where the taskbar used to be.
