Re: Sprite Help Thread
Hey! I'm a bit new to spriting. I haven't sprited anything that's bigger than a helmet. Now, I decided to sprite a Drop Pod. I learnt a lot from the forum's tutorial, and I also used what I learnt in art class. I used a lot of colors to do the shading and generate 3 dimensionality (for example the window, which I really like how it looks, considering I draw like ♥♥♥♥), I "discovered" some tricks for the outlining, used only colors from the palette, etc. First I want to know what do you think in terms of the general shape: with wings or wingless? And now the important part: What can I do to improve my pod? I know that for example the "engines" (the pointy things in the top) look kinda awkward, how could I improve those? Thanks EDIT: By the way the name is CrateBodyLULZ because I started doing it based on the size of the drop crate, but scaled it, etc. As a sum up, it's so changed that even it's original spriter wouldn't recognize it.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
I think it would look better without wings. Dunno what other there is to say. It looks somehow... repulsing. I don't what it is in it but something's there in the frame that I don't like.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Repulsing? D= Couldn't you use a softer word like "wrong, strange, relatively-crappy"?
I know it has something strange, but I can't seem to find it.
EDIT: Hmm... maybe the engines shouldn't have black-blackish colors. Guess I'll look that tomorrow, it's 5:30 AM in here. ♥♥♥♥ insomnia.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
For me it just looks too... flat. I like the shading on the wind screen, but I think it is far too large for a drop pod. I would make it chunkier, and a more interesting shape than a square. It looks like some kind of over-sized gameboy.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
How's the bolter now? I enlargened the barrel a bit and did some minor changes to the overall structure of the weapon. EDIT: Here's a mag and a mockup too, criticism? EDIT2: Why? O_o EDIT3: Issue fixed. Kinda weird.

You sure? He might have just overwritten the old version when he saved it directly to dropbox

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Kettenkrad, you think it's a bit large? And I see what you did there. Those extra metal bars on it made it look more complete. The shading it's also different in the body, guess I'll work that too. And it looks better with wings or wingless? EDIT: Alright, I tweaked the Pod based a bit on what Kettenkrad did. I also darkened the colors of the engines and made them less pointy. How does it look now?

Re: Sprite Help Thread
I Ain't no spriting genius, but it still just seems a bit flat. So, you're going for a rectangular-like shape? If the shape isn't important, I'd change it. Also, you should make the window smaller, and add some details to the body. Why does it have a massive window anyways? It seems like an orbit-piercing-metal-box would need something a bit more structurally sound than glass.
But yeah, ask Lizard or someone, I'm no expert.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Shade it more from the front when it's a craft, use color to make it appear more rounded. Added some doors too because it felt a bit bland.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Now I have a small question.
To code it, which other sprites I need?
