I cannot decide which way looks better, facing up or down. someone tell me what to do before i have to flip a coin.

If I had to make a real pick though, I say use the down facing one or ditch it entirely and stick with the helmet with no points.

i've been working on for sometime on my own dummy race of sort i've created the head but i'm not to sure if it looks right.

You are probably going to want to make your details a bit thicker if that's the case. You mightn't be able to see the details if they're too thin. Apart from that, it's looking good, though it could use some more depth.

hey after you edit the file you save it as a bmp and you use palette right?

This is supposed to be Maximdude's assault rifle fitted with Capnbubs' crobo grapple launcher shooting CC48's grappling projectile. How to improve this patchwork (or is there any need to improve actually : D)?

A little tiny, and the clip isn't a flat box, it's curved. Barrel could be a little bigger as well.

Actually, I haven't sprited the magazine yet.
But I should make it larger and the barrel maybe a bit larger?

Actually, just make the barrel larger. I viewed this thread on my DS, and it looked smaller than it actually is.
