 Re: Dubstep
Quote: I dont see the difference between this "Brostep" and Dubstep. One focuses on things like drops, danceable beats and thick synths. The other focuses more on atmosphere and mood.

Sums up my Dubstep opinion pretty well. That's horrible... Here I thought it was gonna say something like all dubstep sounds like a robot falling down stairs... but wtf. If it makes you feel any better, it was later discovered she basically faked the whole thing. Don't get all bent outta shape.

skrillex comes by shits all over that bros-up and the bro-chavs go bro-crazy for their brostep. skrillex's songs barely have any bass compared to something real. the midrange screeching is a defining part of brostep, and skrillex's songs play the part.
if you want to file for a name change for brostep popularize your own term(won't happen)
also is that the default FL-studio clap because it sounds like it. when you can hear individual oscillations in the bassline on pitch increase it sounds pretty low-quality production-wise. its ok. you've got the basic part sort of figured out, now do better.
also brostep is probably called brostep because it does sound very gay Techno was originally dark, but then there was a Dark techno. Jungle was dark, and then they got a dark jungle which was like super-dark. Adding "Dark" to the front of a genre doesn't mean that "it's dark, and the one that doesn't say dark isn't dark at all", it just means that its darkER, gritty-ER, and more 'evil' sounding than its predecessor. Also no, I never use ANY of the default FL Drums, That was actually an old drum machine from the 80's. I forget which one, it was before the 303 (I think). It wasn't a 303, 808, or 909. although I did use an 808 kick on top of a different kick. and yes, I plan on using the FM Bass method again to make a *real* dubstep/brostep track... and you know what... You say try to popularize a different name... Then I will. I've seen it happen within a few years. I just need to figure out defining features outside of dubstep and ....'brostep', so that it is neither, but bears similarity to both. Also quick question, I keep hearing the term "Drop", which I dont understand. It's not a sweep, its not droping the drums for a moment, and... I just don't get what that term is referring to, because I've heard it used for totally different things.

 Re: Dubstep
Has anyone heard of James Blake? He's touted as post dubstep, but see what you think.

 Re: Dubstep
You might like The Island by Pendulum http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzKZuhwrwNMBoth parts are good but I like the second the best. first is more kick'n snare but the second focuses more around bass and synth.

 Re: Dubstep
No, Dubstep's bass goes lower, is much more upbeat than that and uses more synth/techno like instruments.
possibly more Beats per second aswell.
