This. You get on and start running, essentially pushing the track behind you and causing it to come back up in a cycle.

That's just an inverted hamster wheel.

I recommend you look up the origin of the word treadmill.

Re: Ridiculously Awesome Ideas thread.
Well, tread as in the walking term and mill as in a variety of spinning things like a water mill or wind mill. So yes, an inverted hamster wheel is rather an accurate term there.

And yet you implied that a treadmill and an inverted hampster wheel are separate things. Anyway,

You'd have to be anchoring yourself against something 'solid' relative to the motion of the treadmill, which isn't a natural running posture in any way at all. Running on regular treadmills doesn't fully equate to real running as it is, and people want to make it weirder?

I meant single barrel, max fire rate firing with reloads as fast as the loader can manage. Also, I have a feeling treadmills started that way and got motorised later.

Re: Ridiculously Awesome Ideas thread.
How about a Make-your-own-Mobile-phone (Cellphone for you silly Americans) where you can choose the OS, pre-installed software + drivers + such, touch or buttons or both, layout (candybar, slide, flip etc), extra buttons (camera, music), inputs and outputs, colours and materials it's made of? I'd pay a bit more than a regular phone for that. Oh, and whatever plan and provider I want.
And if I had just said 'everything' then some of you wouldn't have understood that I meant EVERY thing.
And how about you give me a USB cable that's longer that 3 inches next time, hey Nokia? Thanks.
Also, Universal USB cables. Using flat contact connectors or something. That'd be nice, since I have a lot of different USB ports and not enough of the right cables.

Following on from Yoman's idea, how about they operate like computers in that you can mix and match how you like. You know, like Lego.

Waffles and fried chicken, at the same meal. Failing that, Cheerios with bacon bits.
