Post Terrain Reveal
I love the new terrain reveal system in b24, but it could be better. I think it would look much nicer if it were revealed in a hexagon pattern, rather than the current squares.

I wish it would be covered back up when you're not looking at it.

I think if you're not looking at a bit of revealed terrain the units in it disappear. So in traditional style you can see the terrain but not the enemies.

Actually id like to see the squares much smaller in a fashion, so that they are much smaller, it looks kind of beta how it is now.. id also like to see a grey type fog of war that show terrain but comes back when a unit looks away, like in RTS games (SUPCOM).

The squares can be made smaller, square size is set in Lua.
In fact you can have one pixel FoW(but it looks and acts weird, as FoW detection is based off rays).

That's one of CC's major flaws, the particles crossed with the rays and such.

I definitely agree with this. Similar to the "fog" of CS2D, if any of you are familiar. I doubt that data and the crew are going to leave it like this. It's going to look much smoother and cleaner.

I hope the un/reveal is similar to that.

I want fog of war that can move around or change colour. Smog-like effects win.

I wouldn't mind if it was larger hexagons with a border effect. It'd look better and probably be less intensive.

Hexagons sounds good, but slightly smaller and with no effect.

"i wish it was more pixies on the blocks"

SIMS_DOC
Y U NO MAKE SENSE

It should be easy enough to change the color, shape, size, etc. of the FoW panels in .ini and in .bmp, and just change how they're layered in .lua.

I find the current terrain reveal thing rather opressive.

No. The current vector-based FoW is hardcoded, we can only change it to massive bitmaps that are resized to fit the screen.

What do you mean by vector-based, exactly?
