World of Tanks
So perhaps some of you have heard of this game, most of you probably have not though. World of Tanks is a free closed-beta right now, all you need to do is apply (chances are you'll be accepted). You basically drive around in a tank and attempt to blow the hell out of other tanks before you die. That's in hugely simplified terms, mind you.
I met Allstone by fluke chance in a match and that led me to wonder how many more CC fans are playing this game. Playing together with some cool dudes would be a step above the normal riff-raff on the game.

Huh, I just remembered that I have a beta key for this, got it ages ago.
Never played it though.

Never played it though. Depending on how you play it can either be great fun or mind-numbingly irritating. Most of it falls down to module damage and artillery.

Re: World of Tanks
Stay at around Tier 6 and below and it stays fairly fun. Once you get above that things start getting more serious. Though I haven't really played any of the heavy trees too far, so it might be different for them.

Re: World of Tanks
I'm driving around in my Panzer IV. I also have BT-2 and BT-7 plus some american tanks, namely T1 Cunningham, M2 Medium and one I can't remember. If you're from DRLFF, just add me, no need to ask. I go as Natti in the game. Damn annoying, the Panther-turret makes my Pzr4 slow down from 40kph to 30kph and it turns so slowly too. But it's the only way to get the better cannons attached. Goddamnit...

Re: World of Tanks
I'm currently grinding the M3 Lee, T28 and the Wespe. I roll in the SU8, SU85, T14, StuG III, A20 and other stuff. To relax I play my maxed AT1 or the M3 (American light tank in scout line).

Re: World of Tanks
I roll in either my KV (soon to be KV-3) SU-100 or T-34. Also have a near-perfect Leopard that is a blast. Marder II and AT-1 are incredibly fun to play tanks.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, I go by Nachtauge in the game as well.

Do I like tanks? Yes. Do I like WW2 era battles? Yes.

Snipers in tank battles. There's plenty of them everywhere.

Re: World of Tanks
They are called tank destroyers, and they are a type of self-propelled gun. They double as frontline brawlers, because they tend to have heavy, sloped frontal armour.

Tell that to my SU-100. I'd love to be on the frontlines with the KT's and IS-4s and whatnot but it just can't rumble with the big boys. I can punch some nice holes into them, though.

Re: World of Tanks
You are two tiers below a KT though, so that's fair. TDs tend to get placed in higher tier matches though, so it mainly applies to when you're in a match with tanks mainly of your tier. With things like the Object and the JagdTiger, it's possible to do ridiculous things at the front. The Object has utterly ridiculous mantle armour for example, so the forum has thread in it of people formulating strategies which use it in close combat. It's apparently fully viable as long as you have the skill to make them hit your mantle.
