WUBWUB does not dubstep make. Most of Burial's stuff is like... prototypical dubstep. It definitely belongs here. More so than most of Skrillex's stuff or deadmau5 of all things.

Ah, now that two people have mentioned it, I guess I'm obliged to respond, rather than hope no one notices it.
I don't really know what I was thinking when I posted them.

I'd try and redeem myself by posting some actual dubstep, but I can never remember the name of anything I like.

Probably because it's very hard to distinguish between individual dubstep-esque tracks, but I find I don't remember the names of any of them. This is really annoying for when I want them back, and one of the reasons why I'm listening to Disturbed right now, instead of dubstep. It's just not a convenient form of music in that sense.

lol? you don't know what dubstep is at all miles. THAT is dubstep. SKRILLEX stuff posted is BROSTEP. you'll notice it has more in common with rave music and the fast paced stress of metal rather than dub. brostep. the joke poisoning dubstep.

you said the bass is barely audible? buy a component subwoofer and 3/4" MDF, a good amp, and get a sub going that isn't trash. you will hear it loud and clear.

Proto dubstep? That my friend, would be reggae. Reggae > Reggae dub. Reggae dub + Triphop&DNB = Dubstep. The "Dub" In dubstep is VERY Rooted in Reggae.

Reggae is proto-dub, Burial is more like the seasonings used for little bit of extra flavor.

Ironically I like reggae, and I like dubstep, (hard dubstep, or dark dub would be a more accurate name than 'brostep'), but the combination of the two.... I hate it... It just sounds to... goofy.

This should help. Its a little out-dated and cuts off at about 2000, but you'll get the idea.

its like happy2bhardcore... its like anabolic frolic tried making dubstep...

In other news, while trying to make dubstep... again... I got so pissed I said "Screw it I'll use a sine-wave and FM the hell out of it".... and it kinda worked 0_o, so if anyone wants to Check my dubs, that'd be great. It's pretty bare-bones right now and doesn't really have a hook. Mostly just a test track. I could do more but I have to get groceries and stuff.

uh, lol. you don't like dubstep. you like brostep. that is all. you should probably make a thread just for brostep because that's where half the posts should be split to. ask anyone on IDMF or similar music-geared forums. the name for what you think is "hard dubstep" or "dark dub"(which are both dumb names), is called brostep. it is an accepted term, and people mixing up the two really should learn the difference(artists included)

Burial is more like the stereotypical-before-brostep-became-all-the-rage regular dubstep artist, not an outlier in the genre.

also not saying brostep is bad, it's just not dubstep aaa!!!!!!!

Electronica was at one time an accepted name. these same people also accept having at least 5 different genres, that sound nothing alike, all called 'rave'. All I'm saying is "Brostep" Is a retarded name, but some people seem to have a raging bro-ner for calling everything bro-something-or-other. THATS retarded. Dark dub, Industrial-dub, Grunge-step, all work as names. considering they already have "Dark trance, dark techno, Darksynth, Industrial rock, Industrial techno, Industrial trance, Industrial DNB, Those "Sub-titles" work just as well in conjuction with dubstep, which is about what your 'brostep' sounds like.

but you see dubstep was DARK TO BEGIN WITH and that was THE SOUND OF IT

skrillex comes by shits all over that bros-up and the bro-chavs go bro-crazy for their brostep. skrillex's songs barely have any bass compared to something real. the midrange screeching is a defining part of brostep, and skrillex's songs play the part.

if you want to file for a name change for brostep popularize your own term(won't happen)

also is that the default FL-studio clap because it sounds like it. when you can hear individual oscillations in the bassline on pitch increase it sounds pretty low-quality production-wise. its ok. you've got the basic part sort of figured out, now do better.

also brostep is probably called brostep because it does sound very gay

I dont see the difference between this "Brostep" and Dubstep.
At all...

To me if it's hardcore bass going on with a decent electric synth in the back ground, Its dubstep.

Also more UKF

I'm guessing the difference is how loud the frequencies are below 500Hz compared to everything else. Sadly by that logic I could just mess with the EQ on anything and it would magically be dubstep, which just shows how stupid that reasoning is. In other news, doobstap. Sadly I think all his remixes are identical.
