Re: (srs) Roll To Dodge 2 - Choose wisely
As I'm sure you know, silencer <> silent weapon. If we do end up getting him a weapon, a dart gun with some poisonous stuffs actually seems like a good idea considering it'd be (almost) silent, more so than a weapon with a suppressor. But it seems we're agreeing that we should be getting him a gadget, so it shouldn't matter at the moment too much.

Any ballistic dart gun would not be silent. Crossbows still make noise, as do air rifles and CO2 powered rifles. Unless you want to use a blowgun, ie, something with limited range which is inaccurate and useless in the hands of an amateur, you're not getting a silent dart gun.

What about a magnetically-accelerated dart gun? Aren't gauss guns virtually silent?

Re: (srs) Roll To Dodge 2 - Choose wisely
I have a feeling you're being coy with me, Mr. Ocaimarru. Ferromagnetic darts? Really? That just seems to be overcomplicated. I have doubts how stable a hollowed projectile would be in an electromagnetic accelerator. Assuming you could even get it to fly straight enough to inject an enemy combatant, what's the point? It would be much more effective to just use bullets.

Re: (srs) Roll To Dodge 2 - Choose wisely
Why not give the darts a mount and that mount is what's going to be accelerated? That could be implemented for gauss shotguns which IMO would be ♥♥♥♥ better than gay darts.
I forgot to mention they are silent for the obvious reason that it uses gauss acceleration.

All of this doesn't really matter; everyone, so far, has voted that he gets a gadget, so he's not getting a weapon in the first place.

We're voting for James' right now, yes? I say it'd be something classy but useful, perhaps a grappling hook cannon disguised as a cane or something.

Batman Style Grappling hook. Near unlimited length, unbreakable, the size of a TV remote.

Next time try to understand cynicism and I say that cuz I'm ♥♥♥♥ aware that Yoman simply doesn't want them to have another over-super-powered-and-imaginary weapon such as the one I suggested. even though if Fiona's railcannon is possible then my idea is very feasible.

So firstly, I don't think you know what cynicism is. Secondly, you said that with completely serious diction, ie, l2sarcasm. Thirdly, a railgun that fires solid slugs is an entirely feasible creation. The US Navy has actually already developed a fairly advanced prototype. A coilgun (Gauss gun) that fires hollowed out darts filled with poison is an idea beyond implementation for reasons I don't think I need to state. A Gauss shotgun is an even more convoluted idea. Fourthly. Get out.

Re: (srs) Roll To Dodge 2 - Choose wisely
Please do not eat me alive, but why is it so unfeasible to make ferrous darts fired through a coilgun?

Re: (srs) Roll To Dodge 2 - Choose wisely
Simply put, they wouldn't accelerate reliably because of their shape and because of the fact that an injection dart would have to be hollow. There's also a good chance that the dart tip would break from impact, as most bullets/slugs launched from electromagnetic accelerators tend to shatter, so a little thin hollow needle wouldn't stand a chance at that velocity. It would end up at best leaving a nasty gash but dealing no lethal effects. At worst, you could miss entirely, or mess up the inside of the barrel.
tldr -> The fact that it's not aerodynamic combined with the fact that you would need a diamond tipped dart or something is what makes it impossible to use practically.
