Flame tanks do exist.

A tank shell with a drill bit on the end, to get through armour. Now thats a Idea.

Diamond tipped bullets. Duh knows what I'm talking about.

Huge, heavy, but still man-portable gauss rifle that fires soda can-sized projectiles really fast and breaks stuff.

Make that Hyper-diamond tipped bullets, even deadlier. [Or sapphire, they use those for top-grade bullet proof windows.]

OK, seriously though, Grif's idea is pretty win, despite the fact that the US has removed all of the flamethrowers in its arsenal. Not because of any treaties or anything, so they could still make more, but yeah.

Also: long range electrolaser, please. Those things are awesome. Although lasers are typically bulky, huge, and cost a bunch to make because of the power you need to supply a high magnitude laser, a laser that carries an electric pulse doesn't have to be quite as powerful, yet it could be just as deadly. Obviously would only be effective against infantry that are in plain sight- no real penetrative properties, unlike explosives and high-caliber bullets- but boy, this would be fun to use against soldiers that are in the water. Heh. Burn. Of course, there's the fact that an electrolaser doesn't have many advantages over a sniper rifle, thus potentially making it an unnecessary weapon, but it would certainly be better at very long engagement ranges (ie a mile or more) since light, unlike a bullet, travels way too fast to be significantly affected by gravity across such a relatively short distance.

I could go on forever. There is a point when it becomes too awesome.

Eventually it will become Chuck Norris [TM] , and it will never progress/evolve from that.

Better yet, have it be shards of diamonds held together with something flammable yet solid (thermite, I dunno?), and make it a shotgun shell instead of a bullet.

Carbon nano-structures instead of diamonds. Harder and sharper.

I actually don't know which would be less costly. Industrial diamonds or the carbon things.

Diamonds are significantly cheaper. Carbon nano-structures are sort of hard, because you have to manipulate it on an atomic level.

Also, gatling railgun. Who cares if the recoil could push Earth out of orbit, and who cares if it gets hot enough to ignite hydrogen fusion, it's a ♥♥♥♥ gatling railgun. Adding gatling in front of any gun instantly adds awesome, y'know. And railguns are already awesome, because the shots go fast enough to light the air on fire, and cause an explosion on impact without explosives. The big ones do that, anyways.

Also, explosive knuckledusters. Nevermind that your hand explodes, because the guy you just punched also exploded. Can be achieved by taping an anti-personnel mine to your fist as well.

Pretty much anything with railguns kicks ass.
Coil/gauss guns too, but not as much since they don't sound as cool.

A rocket-based takeoff assistance unit strapped to your forearm. An anti-helicopter mine and pilebunker strapped to your fist. EXPLODING ROCKET PUNCH AWAAAY.
