I don't think it would be fair for buyers of the HIB2 to get a key.. Mainly because us previous buyers bought the game for 20-30-40 dollars, and the HIB2 people bought it for as little as a dollar (or even 20 cents or so, seeing as they got several other games for that one dollar).

I'm sure Data will sort something out though

I paid 30 dollars for the HIB2, and if Data's getting the money he deserves from the sales there's no reason he shouldn't give us a key. Just because you paid 5 dollars for a box of cookies a month ago and someone else picked up a box of the same sort of cookies for $2.50 on sale yesterday doesn't make you any more entitled to more cookies nor does it make that someone else entitled to less cookies.

We got it on sale. Deal with it.

Here games cost about 80-160 PLN when they come out and 20 PLN several years laters. Aren't changing prices normal for gaming industry?

Okay okay, my mistake. I guess I just find it a little weird that it was 'on sale' when it hasn't even finished.. I would think the price of the game would continue increasing to it's full price at it's completion, and then start to decrease in price over time.
But hey, i'm no games developer or anything, nor do i know much about marketing. Just my opinion.

Just FYI, I went to the Revenge of the Titans site today to find this:
Quote:
Humble Bundlers - please download updates by following the original links sent to you - you wont be able to register the version available here!

And this at the bottom of their blog entry on December 16 talking about their new update:
Quote:
Bundlers: your download links from www.humblebundle.com will now download the new 1.72 version! Please grab as soon as you can!

And essentially the same thing on their December 21 blog entry about the 1.72.1 update.

Apparently, to get updates to non-HIB copies of RotT, you register your copy on the Puppy Games website and download them from there. For HIB copies you download them through HIB. I'm thinking there's a strong possibility that CC will follow suit.

In addition, HIB has announced that the HIB2 Steam keys are set up to add RotT and CC to your library automatically once (if?) they are released on Steam. So there's that.

What's very likely, from what I know of Data and some other educated guessing, is this:

Build 25 will have the license key system back in place. However, there will be another change within the system (there's already been one, so another isn't that drastic of a supposition)

Those who bought through the HIB will get keys from group A. Previous purchasers will get keys from group B. Maybe old keys will work, maybe they'll need to be upgraded; it really doesn't matter.

People who prepurchase have been confirmed by Data to get some kind of benefit. Possibly, early releasing. I could see a build getting released, but different classes of keys only work on certain dates (requiring server verification) or something along those lines.

Both of those possibilities would be perfectly fine by me.

I'm pretty happy with whatever method they end up using. After finding my own exploits I was playing the game for free already, but it felt good to actually pay for it with the HIB. That said, I don't play much CC nowadays making the value of updates is pretty small. I may be in the minority of users in that regard.

I hope whatever method is used, they focus on making it painless for those who bought the game before the HIB. I'd rather see it nagging for a license key than requiring a DL from a source only available by the HIB credentials. It's going to be played for free by anyone who wants it for free and has the time to do the (like 5 minutes) it takes to do that, the devs may as well accept that and factor that in to avoid pissing of the supporters.
My ¢2.

Registered to post this, and though it's a bump it's probably maybe kinda semi-important.

As per this tweet from Rosen himself, they seem to plan on a HIB-specific auto-updater, similar to how Valve has a Steam-specific auto-updater (that is, Steam). So, providing that Data forwards things through to Rosen, HIBbers will (might) get everything/some things/nothing.

I am, of course, ignoring the discussion of fairness regarding payment and so on and so forth, but I don't feel the need to (re-)cause that particular argument.
