Post Building buildings? ,buying units?
This is something I thought of when I was thinking yesterday.

What if instead of the pre-game build menu we have seen, a dropship deliveres a brain bot. Then instead of making your base pre game and having access to so much stuff, you have a in game build buy menu, where you can build structures, (factories see whats next). This would fix the underground instant brain problem I have seen, and I belive it would make CC more of a game.

Then you could buy unit factories "based on faction" to build your units, the factory could also build weapons, it would be selected then you would select the unit then the gun and in a while (based on the price of unit and weapon), the unit comes out of the factory.

similar in concept to the dummy factory but hard coded and with a ui that does not use the pie menu.

(please no comments on "this would be cool (or suck), but the dev is to lazy to put it in)

The factories have already (somewhat) been done.

Building while in-game is definitely planned, and factories have already been modded in as such. There was a mod a while back I believe that duplicated anything and everything.

It's actually a great Idea, and there has been a mod that allows in-game building of bunkers, unfortunately, it is extremely laggy due to the fact that you are trying to force bunker builder mode on, and the game is trying to force it off.

I can't seem to find it now, but it would be cool for Data to implement in the near future.

It's fun to build stuff around approaching enemies.

You're thinking of the Scrap Brain, I believe. I can't find it either, though, which is odd.

TLB's computer mod kind of allows building. Building as in creating lines, but it's better than nothing.

I found it. It's in Junk, cause a side-effect of its working is bypassing the game's demo timer.

Right now, it's not so bad, cause there is no timer, but if Data decides to bring DRM back in the update, it would be a huge problem.

yeah considering building, I was thinking that there would be some sort of deployment time or something, and you would have to build tunnels to build underground buildings or something, I mentioned that i knew mods with factories exist, but they use the pie menu and dont have the buffness that a dev can put into the game

where is this junk you speak of?

What about Grif's construction thing? That's not laggy at all. However it is slow and doesn't cost any money so it might not be what you're looking for.

No, that was Grif, as Contrary said.

i am not sure you understand what I meant. not the pregame editor in the current build something totally different
1. There would be a lot less selection "only able to build bunker parts"
2. no units or weapons able to be built.
3. everything would take time to build, AND you can place a structure deep deep underground without building a tunnel there
4. you could even make a buildable brain bunker, just make it cost alot of money

It sounds like you don't want to play a side-scrolling shooter with physics. It sounds like you want to play a RTS.

While it could be a cool idea, I'm not sure if it jives so well with what CC is. Zalo said it's a good idea, though, so I might be entirely off-base.

But this game for me is spending a little while lovingly crafting a bunker in which your brain can rest, then watching it get blown to hell by the lobotomized armies that oppose me. Rebuilding mid-game would throw off the balance (even if a timer/prohibitive costs/whatever was added) and kinda screw up the frantic pace that is so awesome about this game.

My 2 cents.

Ya you do have a very good point there.

maby in modes (now i know this wont be happening). and I play ALOT of RTS games so that would make sense. Anyway I have found that with the current base building system it is kind of difficult to play vs another human, generally all you need to do is put your brain underground then sit people with guns on top of it. Id like to see some more competitiveness to it, where you win, or lose or something.

I get this from playing VS my brothers using controllers, it tends to be a short game because of the whole pre game build system.

Best you can get in terms of ingame construction right now. At least, of bunkermodules. That aren't also terrible.
