Uh, no, it's like this when we've been waiting since March 2009 for any sort of update and we get ♥♥♥♥. We've been waiting for an update for longer than you've known about CC, or at least registered for the forums. I've been playing this game since like 2007. Dan has no concept of loyalty to his audience.

Well, you aren't winning anything by whining about it everywhere. You're just making people annoyed.

I didn't realize you spoke for a group of people. How many, exactly? Or have you just blindly assumed that anyone but you is annoyed and decided to use it as a point despite the fact that a number of people have come forth to say they find it morally reprehensible that Dan has done what he's done whereas nobody has come forth to ♥♥♥♥♥ about the bitching save you.

Anyway, implying that I should keep silent about a perceived injustice is quite silly. It might not do anything to scream and shout my outrage, but that doesn't mean I should just be quiet.

I think the general idea is that if people complain enough, Data will listen.

Personally, I love this update, but I only started playing Cortex Command a few months ago. I can't imagine having to wait two years for this.

Guys, I don't know what vortex you're all living in, but it hasn't been even close to two years.

More like one and a half, but that's not much better.
B23 was released May 13th 2009, B24 on December 14th 2010.

Yeah, I can't see how you're not disappointed when 1.5 years of supposed work on CC amounts to two new menus, a new variable, and legs orienting to the body correctly.

He probably has a real job or something and is doing this on his free time.

I highly doubt that this provides enough income for him at this point.

Having eight hours taken away most days, not including other time-consuming requirements, would really hamper how much you can do.

However, if this is the case, only problem is that it's gonna take an eternity to actually finish the game.

Nope, CC is his source of income.

What about metagame?
Probably much work done with it, but it just not ready to release.
Gif shown in devlog is good enough. Who knows, metagame can be done soon.
No one can know when it'll be released, but I expect release in next 9 months... not so long. Don't know why 9 months... :) I just hope it will.

What Ophanim said.

Data, with your game in the humble something pack lots and lots of people will be getting a look at your game.
Loads and loads of future disgruntled fans. How will you deal with this? You can't hide in your attic forever. *grumble*

[childishrant]

This has got to be the most disappointing game update ever released. I've been checking the dev blog regularly for the several months. Have to say that I was really looking forward to this. I naively thought that, while updates on the blog had stopped completely, the devs were still working hard on the game behind the scenes. I'd expected the full meta-game, several new factions, a re-worked engine; all of it. Alas, I was wrong.

The complete lack of information about the update (I'd almost call it secrecy) about the included content was what really built up my expectations. Arne's Art thread and the gif of the meta-game were, in my mind, as close as we ever got to a preview of the update. I thought that, hey, maybe the game devs want to surprise us! Or maybe Data is just too lazy to update the blog; he only has so much free-time to work on the game, and he can't waste said time writing out blog posts on the internet!

And then, today, noticing how late into December we'd come already, checked the blog with anticipation. B24! Hell-yes! I could barely contain my excitement; the only other games that I've followed with as much zeal as CC over the last 2 years or so are Diablo 3 and Red Dead Redemption. And then, within 10 minutes, all of my expectations were just blown away, and in the worst way possible. Not one piece of visible content added to the game, aside from some Coalition pistol and fog of war. Nothing that affects the game majorly in any readily apparent way. One and a half years of "hard" work, and this is the culmination of it all.

Goddamn. I wouldn't even mind if we'd been told about the progress being made. Notch, the developer of Minecraft, updates his blog at the very least once a week, with some exceptions; when he took a month-long break, we were told about it. And when he was working hard and adding lots of content to the game, we were also kept informed. But Data? We were lucky to get a blog post once a month, nevermind an update. If he'd told us, ''hey guys, I really don't feel very motivated to work right now, and haven't for the last year and a bit, and most of the work for this update was put into re-working the engine, so don't expect too much!", that would've been great! I'd never have built up my expectations. I wouldn't feel so let down and pissed off right now.

I just don't know what to think. Maybe Data is the worst game dev of all time communication wise? Maybe I'm just an upset, raging fanboy who needs to go outside more and worry myself with things other than game development? (well, that's definitely true). Maybe I'm an ignorant bollocks who knows nothing about game development and doesn't realize how much has actually been added in this update?

Whatever. I'm sure I'll get over it within a week. Time to go back to building up unrealistically high expectations for Battleblock Theatre. I really hope, however, that my unrealistically high expectations will actually be met, this time.

[/childishrant]

Sorry, had to get that off my chest. I fully expect to be mocked below with a picture saying ''CRY SUM MOAR'' below, or at the very least someone will say ''Lol u hav less than 20 posts, ur opinion dusn't mater''. I just really felt like writing an excessively long, badly constructed rant for some currently unknown reason. Cheers. Thanks for the update, Data, even if I am very disappointed.

The impressions I got was that he could have implemented it given another month or so but had to work to the deadline set. Maybe it'll be in the next build?
