Re: Mod Contest N-1 (Theme Announced)
I was already drafting something completely identical to this for my own amusement.

Maybe we thought that December Seventh, 2010 sounds slightly nicer than Seventh of December, 2010...? ... If I recall correctly, actors can't die from the gravity impulse; instead dying from falling through the ground or colliding with it.

Re: Mod Contest N-1 (Theme Announced)
An actor being overly pushed into the ground by gravity can be damaged by it. What was that giant zombie with a ridiculous amount of health? He took damage from just walking because he had a huge mass and a standard damage impulse threshold or whatever that variable is.
Although the standard actor would dig into the ground before being damaged that way, I'd guess.

Yeah, as I said, actors take damage from colliding with the ground, but not from the actual gravity impulse. A large number of actors would instagib if gravity were counted into the gibimpulselimit.

Re: Mod Contest N-1 (Theme Announced)
You could just directly apply force to them, but it'd probably not fall under the theme properly. If you instead reduced their mass they'd fly about a lot easier, which could work to their detriment.

So.
This can have Lua, it just can't subtract health?

Re: Mod Contest N-1 (Theme Announced)
Thats right. Damage must be caused only through smashing or crushing. Rest is up to you.

Re: Mod Contest N-1 (Theme Announced)
Hmmm..... How about a gun that lifts an object (has aiming laser from Darkstorm to help aim) and smashes it down with extreme force. Or maybe one that pulls someone in, and bashes them against the large, Shield-Shaped gun?

Eg: hammer, cannonball, wrecking ball, massive donkey statues...

Re: Mod Contest N-1 (Theme Announced)
Just to wanted to say I will take this contest to the end, but after its done, someone else will have to take over.
And so far Nonsequtorian is leading with his knife entry. You still have 4 days before the final submission day.
ABORT: See OP.

Re: Mod Contest N-1 (Contest Cancelled)
Losing all respect for the game's creator makes you abandon any ties with the game's fans' activities? Blah, whatever.
Anyone else interested in doing another contest, or maybe giving this one a proper finish? CC48, maybe you wanna take the reigns back, pull the sled out of the snow drift, and get back on track? If not, I might give it a go.
Would it be unchill of me to chose the theme myself if I did do the next contest? To be fair, since I already told someone, I'll let everyone know that I would choose "boss battle" as the theme if I did. (Making it into a mission/scenario/etc would be optional, but encouraged. It could just be a tough enemy.) I suggest Boss Battle as a future theme.
