 Re: Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server
Maybe 4 or 5 miles away from the central. A couple of months ago there was a promotion/demonstration and they upped my bandwidth to 100/6. So much upload. Anyway, I do have my main on 24/7, unless I go off to somewhere and take it me (laptop ahoy). While I do have a couple of spare rigs I'd like to keep the electricity bill to a minimum, so maybe jump the server around from my main to the spare rig? also

 Re: Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server
I MIGHT be getting one of our schools older servers, internet connection is reasonable. But there is no problem with keeping it running all day long. The servers have more then enough ram so that shouldn't be a problem.
Although if I would get it and anybody with a better connection wants it I could sell it cheap-ish.
Also: Foil, I hope you die by overinformation, a cause of death that could occur to nobody but you.

Whitty here, reporting from computer #2. Ubuntu 10.04.
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut. It isn't reading the hard drive for some god-forsaken reason, so it's running off a bootable flash drive atm. But this piece of ♥♥♥♥ machine got speed.

 Re: Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server
If you forward the SSH port to that machine and give me access to an account that can manage the Minecraft server, I can do everything. Everything ever.

 Re: Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server
Of course. I just need to get the hard drive working. XD
It's an old 80GB Maxtor drive (more specifically, Maxtor 3.5" DiamondMax Plus 9 80GB ATA/133 HDD). I've tried 3 different ribbon cables and 2 different PSU's but it just wont read it. The BIOS is old and confusing, not to mention locked down, so I may bring it up to my physics teacher and have him mess with it a bit sometime this week.

 Re: Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server
I decided to make an account and become slightly less lurker like. My Machine is pretty speedy: 6gb ram i5 cpu @ 2.67GHz Nvidia Geforce 310 512 MB Vid card. I would be willing to Host, as I rarely use my Machine for anything heavy-duty. And by Heavy-duty, I mean Garry's mod of course.

Oh gods, your upload speed.
I'd still prefer FoiL though, as he is in Europe, and awesome.

 Re: Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server
If I can move around files, start programs, and download things through it, I can use it to administrate it. SSH access on linux is especially juicy since you can do everything ever through SSH. Remote desktop, bash access, file transfers, everything.

I'll get logmein working on said computer, then you can do whatever you need as far as sofware and router configuration goes.
