Re: Capnbub's game
The firesprite follows the mouse.
Also, this is fun. I wish the combat were a bit more difficult, though. I've been replaying Lugaru recently, and that really does strike me as the benchmark for fighting.

Niggling complaints: How do I get new health? How do I tell, exactly, that I'm about to die? Also, the firesprite thing seems like it's leading me places when it's just following me around. As for new health, I'll have health restoring items in the game that you can buy in shops but you'll only be able to use them outside of combat as they'll have an animation that can be interrupted. I'm going to add a function that shows you your health and armour in numbers when you move your mouse over the health meter. I want to make it possible to use the firesprite to distract and lead enemies around. The type and number of attacks are actually entirely dependent on the weapons you have equiped, when you can equip a shield in the left hand it will let you use stunning knockback attacks for instance. Two handed weapons will control the attacks for both hands. When I get wands, crossbows etc. in the game you'll be able to equip them in one hand and have a melee weapon in the other. [edit] Oh yea, the attacks aren't just dependent on weapon class either, a rare weapon will have rare attacks.

Re: Capnbub's game
It's pretty! Are each weapon combos separate (AAA or DDD), or can you do a AAD combo?
And, is it a dungeon crawler in the sense that Diablo is? (Main town, then you venture deeper and deeper into the woods... then you unlock the mountains, or a new town or something?)

It's actually going to be more like castlevania or metroid, you move freely between areas to find abilities and items or kill bosses that let you progress to new areas.

Re: Capnbub's game
I'm loving the look of this, I'll play it when I'm back from my exam this morning, as I'm on the laptop now so 3D in general is out of the question. Nice to see you still working on this bubs!

Re: Capnbub's game
Other than the obvious fact that it looks insanely good (graphics and animations alike), the gameplay also seems pretty well thought through. Switching the usual functions of keyboard (motion) and mouse (aim and attack) is a daring move, but it works quite nicely. It's rather difficult though, because you get gangbanged by those little dudes when you try to hit them, due to the recovery of your attacks. The health system helps even this out a bit though. All in all, excellent job so far, really looking forward to see how this turns out.

I'm trying to update the website regularly on what I'm working on and adding to the game, I'm planning to have a fully featured hour long demo finished before christmas.

I'd love to play this, but it the graphics are to intense for my computer. Look nice, though.

Re: Capnbub's game
Yeeeesss, thanks for all the comments guys.
I've actually only been working on this particular game for about a month, using all the stuff I've learned from practicing for the last year or so. Today I think I shall be working on the goblin AI =D

Really nice game. It may lack content but it's quite fun to play. It's somehow peacufull and serene, and the landscape is quite nice. The goblins gang-rape you later on though.
