Re: Dwarf Fortress - It's about time there's a thread
I made a fortress after a long time not playing this great game and now I already have snatchers running and watchtowers being built. Also, my hunter one-shotted a giant eagle. I'm so proud of him :3

I'm so proud of him :3 When/if you make a marksdwarf squad, always let them hunt more than train. It levels them up a lot. I have a marksdwarf hunt for a year and he's somewhere near expert. EDIT : Also, Genesis mod is fun.

I think I'll stick to the vanilla. Also, is making brass useful? I've got some magma and the ingredients for making brass.
EDIT OH MY GOD AIMED ATTACKS /nerdgasm
When The Toady One releases the next version I'm gonna make a badass axedwarf and kill the ♥♥♥♥ out of every elf I find. With cool combos.
EDIT
My expedition leader is a true dwarf. She's just drinking dwarven beer and trying to make some sense about the stockpile records while she should be trading. I guess she's not interested in trading. Also, the outpost liaison is just nagging there right in her ear.

Adventure mode is so much win right now. Biting a human chieftess in her hand.
She's stunned.

Running through one of the new Fortresses at night. Weapon attacks don't wake the guy you attack, and have a 100% hit chance on sleepers... And only sometimes wake up allies.
I ran through the fort, collecting the weapons because the armour was too big for me, cutting the throat of everyone I encountered. Next up: Attempting to take someone's guts out with my teeth. Or a toothy decap. Already killed by throat-shaking. And taken hands and feet off with my teeth...

Are there any graphics packs for the new version yet?

Re: Dwarf Fortress - It's about time there's a thread
So, I recently took Dwarf Fortress up again. I have building, making things, other actions nailed, now I just have to get my head around the seemingly tangled web of the micro-management. Any tips for me?

Get Dwarf Therapist. It's a little helper program that will make managing your little dwarves 10 times easier. Dear god, I couldn't play without it.

Me neither. It's good that they update it to be compatible with the new versions pretty quickly.

I always read that thing as "Dwarf The Rapist", the name left me wondering for the first time I ran it.

Decided to try playing again today. Dug a tunnel. Tried to figure out how to designate a dump site. Got frustrated. Gave up on DF, once again.
