Fanfic collaboration
I've had this idea, writing a fanfic with the help of many people. What I mean to say by that is that we ALL write a fanfic of CC...TOGETHER. One person starts, in this case me, and lets the following person continue the story. The Rules: 1. This one will be serious, no jokes and no going off on tangents. 2. You may include mods that you have on CC, but remember to mention them in a comment at the end of your segment.[And add a link in case someone is interested in said mod] 3. If you're going to include explicit detail on gore do warn the audience 4. This one should end in around 20 posts, though anyone trying this in the future can make it longer. 5. When you're finished with your segment and you've added the comment explaining the mods pass the torch to the next person, therefore name the person you want to go next. 6. The first person describes the main character, the next the scene, and then the story begins. 7. No complaining if the story doesn't go your way, this is a collaborative effort and therefore not completely under your control.[Yeah, like I'm gonna get my Laurence of Arabia based story] 8. 3 lines minimum, 10 lines maximum, don't be an overachieving snob just because you can. 9. Don't worry about writing badly, I myself suck at writing... And here...we...go The darkness, it has been a while since I've seen reality. Through the conduits hat the Coalition provides do I only see the world around me. I should probably explain myself, my name is John Doe V, I have the role of Earthling General Third Class in the 322nd sector of the Novus system.[this does not exist in the game, it's for the sake of the story] My forefathers held the same positions as they passed on their skill to me through my young years as a growing mind inside the Coalition development matrix. After my admission into the Earthling division of the Coalition Cortex Command I was trained further, learning anything my forefathers could have missed. It was then that I saw my first, real, glimpse of reality. Comments: So yeah, that'l be the first part, I'd like Geti to continue on this. If he declines the position is left open for the next person. I don't know if I did well and I hope anyone who collaborates will be helpful in developing the story further. I'm just happy if this actually appears on the board

You might want to write more than three lines if you want people to take this seriously.

Re: Fanfic collaboration
I see my first glimpse of the world through the eyes of a puppet, a measly 30oz training anthromechanima. Compared to the last 40 years of my life in digital combat training, even through the robot's dime-a-dozen artificial photoreceptors, reality is bliss. Instead of properly calibrating my motor controls I spent my first minute taking in the surrounds, my mind racing with the stimulation. The steel-braced concrete walls scream with texture, the sound of real wind through the low-bitrate audio feed makes my brain sing. This was why I'd wanted to be a commander; not for the billions spent excising me from my body or for the years burned learning to use my brain properly, not for the artificial projections of what the world might be or the banal conferences, but for the joy of control. I remember where I am, and what I'm meant to be doing. This isn't time to take in the sights, this is a training mission. After walking around the concrete courtyard to make sure the robot is in fine working order, I walk to the small weapons cabinet, open the catch and ponder which weapon to take, the 63mm rocket-propelled grenade launcher or the 10 gauge pump shotgun. I decide to take both. -- Don't expect me to take too much of a part in this, but whatever, start it off. http://androidarts.com/cortexcommand/Fa ... lineup.jpg ref image.

Re: Fanfic collaboration
Im tempted to contribute. Oh Heck, I will.
I headed over to the firing range, the gears in the legs of this robot clanking as I moved forward. Carrying the shotgun leaned up against my shoulder, and the grenade launcher on my back. The sun was burning down onto the ground. They don't fit temperature sensors in these cheap low grade models, as they are not a essential feature.
Not essential like the metal armour rather then this cheap and suitably weak chest covering.
Looking around, I notice the firing range is on the surface, with a larger then normal desk infront of where the targets should appear. Slamming my hand onto the button on the table, the button to release targets, which then drops down another bot, not to dissimilar to the one I control.
I fire at it using the grenade launcher missing completely, and oddly enough it fires back with a small weapon of its own. A Trade star Issued Blaster. The hits miss besides one, neatly hitting into my right shoulder, now sparking. Ducking behind cover to protect my bot. My audio feed transmits the noise of clanking, the noise of the bot advancing steadily towards me. My reactions and years of training kick in. I lift my grenade launcher, quickly thinking if this is the right course of action before confirming it mentally, I fire the grenade launcher at the wall, hoping for a ricochet to come and bounce the grenade off the wall.
Luckily, that happened, and the grenade went off without incident, other then there being a pile of burning wreckage now leaning on the wall in front of me.
So what do you think of my little contribution?

Re: Fanfic collaboration
Marvellous, do. I forgot to name the person after me, but I feel that these kinds of things work better if you just make a post claiming shotgun on the next section and then edit that post with content. Discussion posts could be made smaller, like so, but I'm not fussed.

Re: Fanfic collaboration
Let's see what I can come up with. Okay here we go:
I rise from the crouch, my metal husk whirs softly and a sharp "Pssh" sound jumps out of the small pneumatic actuators, that would be the equivalent to the calve muscles of a human body. Slinging the battered and smoking grenade launcher over my artificial shell of a back I take a look at the limp pile of machinery that's pathetically slumped over the concrete wall. An emotionless visage - visage isn't the word, more of a plate, now contorted and pitted - stares hopelessly towards the sky, basic human instincts come to play and float, linger in my mind, they nag at me to recognise this form as human but regretfully, I had left all emotion for living beings in my physical body. All I need is here in this safe, deep tomb.

Re: Fanfic collaboration
After returning to a standing position my optical sensors rise slowly upward, further than my body. It isn't even my body. I have long since forgotten what I looked like before... before enlistment. As my line of sight rises I begin to look out of the open roof of the training establishment, and up into the sky. The sun set on this part of the planet three weeks ago. Of course it would return, but the unpredictability of it reflected my emotion... or lack of it. Beyond the atmosphere I could see the many stars, suns of other solar systems so far away. Briefly, I wondered which one my home orbited.
The vast mass of the Tradestar Midas swept over the starry sky, it's light pollution obliterating all I saw in the Heavens, and my thoughts were quickly transformed into that of the trade. It was all for trade. All for the rich to get richer, the poor to get poorer, and the enlisted to die in their name. The same phrase repeated itself round my head, the one we were forced to learn. To die for. For the greater good. It mean't nothing to me any more.
Lost in my thoughts, I barely heard the explosion before it knocked me aside.

Re: Fanfic collaboration
Nice submissions, Geti did have a point that it's a little more fun just to shotgun on the next segment.[seeing that it'd be a little less frustrating for some{OK a lot} of people] I'm thinking of summing all the segments up into one piece of text when the fanfic's over, so keep posting please

Re: Fanfic collaboration
You'll run out of characters pretty quickly that way. If it gets good we can splice them all together and put them somewhere on the internet like oh-so-many dwarf fortress successions.

Re: Fanfic collaboration
Yea, before I made my submission, I put everyone else's together in a notepad window so I read more smoothly. I say when this story is over, upload a .txt file of the complete story.

Re: Fanfic collaboration
First off before we continue to proceed, we need to hammer out a few details...
Here is some I think we need to plan out. There might be more I did not think of. What is the environment like? Where are we Right now? Do we have access to the buy menu?
