That's a big crustacean, and does it have a burger underneath it? I am confused/amazed, assuming no shoppery has gone on.

I often think to myself what they might right in their journals, and it makes it a whole lot funner (And yes, I know it's 'more fun', but it should be 'funner').

Re: Gaming immersion and CC
I actually did this in Oblivion by acting like a normal human being (eg wearing clothes instead of armor when not slaughtering monsters, eating, drinking, sleeping on a regular basis, just talking with people for no reason, etc) and it was pretty fun. Role playing within a game increases the immersion very enjoyably. EDIT: Also, when I saw that crab, I immediately thought of this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mHKHKR8x6A

Re: Gaming immersion and CC
Pen and Paper games, for example, only have immersion. You act like you're your character, and you do stuff. There are some extremes though, and some lines that shouldn't be crossed. Too much of a good thing is a bad thing.

Actually, I'd even suggest that most good immersion actually comes under the heading of "so bad it's good". Doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed, and wearing my cloak while playing Thief makes it a good deal more fun.

Re: Gaming immersion and CC
Got it, Seraph!I tried this in Killing Floor, playing as Foundry Worker Aldridge, but it proved to have the opposite effect, distracting me from the game, due to massive welding gloves stopping me from using the keyboard, a tiny dirty visor stopping me from seeing anything, and having a shotgun in the way, since I was playing Support Specialist. Also, related, but not mine.

Hey, that is pretty neat. I ought to get myself a welding mask one of these days.
Also, the Stalker picture is hilarious, and so, so true.

Re: Gaming immersion and CC
You also kinda can't see through most welding masks due to the insane amount of light welding creates (at least, in my experience this has been the case, maybe there are reactive glass ones now or something).

Re: Gaming immersion and CC
There are reactive ones, but not in the same way as one gets reactive sunnies, as it wouldn't change it time to prevent your eyes from frying. Also, the reactive ones cost a fortune in comparison.

Re: Gaming immersion and CC
In my experience, the reactive stuff is a bit of a waste of money. Most quality welding masks already have a set of transparent lenses, and the lightproofed ones just slide/rotate on top of them when needed.

Nonsequitorian wrote: What kind of helmet was that? It's hard to tell if it's auto darkening from the picture, but I have absolutely no idea how you'd be able to see the screen in anything else. It has a flip up thing for a darkened (Maybe auto-darkening, but I doubt it) visor, but it didn't have the darkened visor in it. So I was just looking through the clear, protection-less visor, as if it were flipped up. The visor was still pretty dirty and small, so I had to sit back in the seat more than usual to see the whole screen, and I had to tilt my head to see the keyboard, to try to figure out how to press a particular button with massive gloves. When I looked back up to the screen, I was usually surrounded by clots. All in all, it was the least immersive Killing Floor has ever been.
