That's a big crustacean, and does it have a burger underneath it? I am confused/amazed, assuming no shoppery has gone on.

It's a coconut crab, they climb trees and are strong enough to break coconuts with their claws. They do actually have hamburgerish behinds.

I actually did this in Oblivion by acting like a normal human being (eg wearing clothes instead of armor when not slaughtering monsters, eating, drinking, sleeping on a regular basis, just talking with people for no reason, etc) and it was pretty fun. Role playing within a game increases the immersion very enjoyably.

EDIT: Also, when I saw that crab, I immediately thought of this.

Pen and Paper games, for example, only have immersion. You act like you're your character, and you do stuff.
There are some extremes though, and some lines that shouldn't be crossed. Too much of a good thing is a bad thing.

Actually, I'd even suggest that most good immersion actually comes under the heading of "so bad it's good".
Doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed, and wearing my cloak while playing Thief makes it a good deal more fun. :P

I tried this in Killing Floor, playing as Foundry Worker Aldridge, but it proved to have the opposite effect, distracting me from the game, due to massive welding gloves stopping me from using the keyboard, a tiny dirty visor stopping me from seeing anything, and having a shotgun in the way, since I was playing Support Specialist.

You also kinda can't see through most welding masks due to the insane amount of light welding creates (at least, in my experience this has been the case, maybe there are reactive glass ones now or something).

There are reactive ones, but not in the same way as one gets reactive sunnies, as it wouldn't change it time to prevent your eyes from frying.
Also, the reactive ones cost a fortune in comparison.

In my experience, the reactive stuff is a bit of a waste of money. Most quality welding masks already have a set of transparent lenses, and the lightproofed ones just slide/rotate on top of them when needed.
