Cortex Command won't open. Period.
Usually when I have trouble opening CC it's because of some new mod I downloaded, but this time, it just flat out won't open. All I get is an error message saying:
RTE Aborted! (x_x)
Abortion in file .\System\Reader.cpp, line 531, because:
Wrong type in Reader when passed to Serializable::Create() in Bast.rte/Settings.ini at line 184!
The last frame has been dumped to 'abortscreen.bmp'
How do I fix this?

I have this same issue. I removed all my mods and it fixed it though. What mods do you have installed?

Your settings.ini is broken. Replace it with this:

Then don't install the game into Program Files when you're on Vista.
Put it on the Desktop or in My Documents and you're fine.

Re: Cortex Command won't open. Period.
Massive bump, sorry, but I'm getting the exact same message too.I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times in every way,I think it's because of Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC.When I ran it,I think it deleted one of the essential files.I tried replacing the Settings.ini with the one above, still nothing.I WANT TO PLAAAAAY.

That last sentance sounds suspiciously like whining...
Are you getting the exact same error? If so, the fix above will work. If not, give us a better description. Tell us exactly what the popup says, or even just take a screenshot.
The errror takes the basic form of this:
.rte aborted!
Error: [reason why it won't work] in [path to the file that needs repairs]
Make sure to have installed in your My Documents or Desktop.

Re: Cortex Command won't open. Period.
Oh thank you two,I guess I'll try that,I always install my stuff in Program files. And yes,I was getting the exact same error.CC is pretty much the only fun thing I can do on my computer and without it I'm getting quite bored.
Edit:IT WORKS,YES!Thanks alot.
Edit2:And it's not working again.
Edit3:Did the settings.ini thing, works now.I did this a long time ago but I forgot to edit it into this post.
