Interviews with Data
Was able to snipe an interview. Quote: MLC: How has the development of Cortex Command since B23 gone, so far?Data: a little more specific, please unless you want a vague answer too, like "great" MLC: Have you hit any problems in development?Data: many, but that's what development is all about solving problems MLC: Weasel used to be very active in reworking the community, but now he seems to have gone off of the radar. What happened?Data: well he handled the transition from when WJ left and then he didn't need to do so much more work after that. he's now doing game dev on his own MLC: What can we expect to see in B24, as far as new features for modders, and first-party content?Data: you an expect to see a first revision of the metagame, but probably without much of an AI so it should be somewhat playable against other people on the same machine hotseat also, a reworked scenario/skirmish mode the metagame mode is called 'campaign' and the scenarios are called 'skirmish' MLC: Can we expect a release this year?Data: yes, early dec for b24 that is fairly certain, since it has to coincide with an event we're planning iwth some other studios MLC: Thank you for answering my questions! Data: you're welcome EDIT: now with formatting. EDIT: Data has been informed of IsScrap!Quote: CrazyMLC: I was just curious, how will Lua change in B24? New functions, anything like that?
Data: yeah some new functions biggest change is that scenes can be tested for compatibility in the activity scripts
CrazyMLC: Sounds useful!
Data: so the scenario/skirmish menu will let you select an activity first, then automatically present all the scnes which are compatible with it that's what i'm working on right now
CrazyMLC: Ahhh, I gotcha Well, good luck!
Data: thx EDIT: Quote: CrazyMLC: How's the CC release coming along? You said early December?
Data: mid december is the deadline things are going well working on the scenario/skirmish mode menus right now entirely new; the old ones were outdated since you can now have 4 teams in a game now you can first select an activity from all available and then it shows the sites on teh planet which are compatible with that activity so you select a site, and then configure the player team assigments
CrazyMLC: Hm... sounds good! But it also sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you. :S
Data: of course

Re: Interview with Data
With the excitement settling, did you find out anything about new Lua functions or did you forget?

I didn't ask on purpose. I wanted to keep the questions to a minimum.

Re: Interview with Data
Good job with this MLC. It's a good sign to those who think Data has gone off and left us.

Re: Interview with Data
You should have mentioned multi player. Now that would be a reaction I would like to see.
