Everything is heavily WIP, I've still got to add ilopocalypse to the games page, and I've still got to do all the php for the site, code a blog and maybe a forum (no sql available for the moment) but for a night's work I'm not too fussed.

All Caps Header links with the rollover underline (HOME, GAMES) are very 2001.
Also, more space 'tween them.
The logo could be a tad bigger, I think.
Copyright could be smaller, and in a lighter color.
The clicked-through color on the sidebar links is a tad pale, but not too bad.
Again, I think that underline rollover links taste like 2001.
on "Cool people", "people" should be capitalized.
Your logo has much more empty space below it than above it.
It would be cool if you could get the underscore to blink, à la Unix.

I'm on the free kind of webhost. I'll pay for a database as soon as I've got anything that really needs it, but it could be fun to code a flatfile forum/blog anyway.

Thanks heaps for the criticism, very helpful. This is my first web design project in ♥♥♥♥ ages, so that's likely where I've picked up some of these 2001 habits you speak of.
I'll go fix the random assorted messups (lack of title-casing on Cool People, idiot lack of space on the menubar etc) and I'll think about taking away the rollover underscores too, though I kind of like them.
I'll definitely fade back the copyright line soon, but it's there as a reminder to me that everything is WIP.

I also like the idea of a blinking underscore, I've got a few gifs of the old logo with it, and it would probably bring it to life quite a lot more.

I'm still pondering over detailing colours. I've dropped the colours I was going to go with almost completely, so I might bring back pastel shades of them (gameboy green and a lurid purpley shade for contrast) and see how it looks.

That'll happen after tomorrow does though, jesus I need sleep. Thanks for going in-depth though.

I think most people miss the point of haikus. It's a not like a segment of a longer poem; a short, shallow message like you have done. I'd compare haikus heavily to pixel art. You have the same amount of content, full of the nuances of a longer poem, just in a more concise manner.
