I know we have skills and we can develop them, but I didn't think I could just say "Learn to do such and such." I thought we naturally developed them over time - I mean, that would make more sense anyway.

Dead guy's corpse got blown away (not vaporised, it literally got moved). The body will not be where Tyrone died; instead, it will be off in the direction from the blast zone. It's also through that impenetrable wall of debris back down the hall :P

Correct. If you constantly do something, and I think that you would be able to 'learn' that something, and if you roll a high number, and if I'm feeling generous, then yes, you would get a new ability.

EVERYONE around the blast site was killed, vaporised or mortally wounded from the Blur's explosion. The characters did not because everyone know that protagonists/heroes can survive slightly more lethal things than regular people.

The only person Vlad and Andy know that survived is Barker and that Male nurse Cooper. Cooper had serious wounds and died after helping Andy .

Fiona, behind Asfer, takes the left hallway, and he replies to her question:

They come to a metal sliding door and Asfer yells as he enters. Asfer works his arms and there are a few beeps and buzzes, then a female voice speaks out through the room:
"Welcome back, Commander."
"Glad to be back, baby." Asfer replies.

The awed silence from behind makes Asfer grin as he hangs a left with the party behind. He quickly comes to a gray-steel sliding door on the left side, and within, a scientist playing around with his Mech Suit.
"OI! Just what do you think you're doing?!" He yells.
The Scientist leaps twenty feet in the air and spins as Asfer strides angrily towards him. Just as Asfer gets to him he raises his arms, the Scientist cowers, and Asfer hauls him aside. He then taps in the Entry Combination, scans his eyes and face and inserts his finger into a small hole, which makes a buzzing sound.
"Welcome back, Commander." A cool, crisp, female voice sounds.
"Glad to be back, baby."
"Voice print confirmed. Enter when ready Sir."

The man activates the suit and it speaks to him in a female's voice:
