ONTOPIC I don't think I ever commented on this (If I did it was in passing) but this mod makes for some hilarious fun in multiplayer if you've got some ground rules down (like, no sploding my brain kthx). A+ for idea and execution to the responsible parties

Reinstall wine and everything involving wine. If you absolutely have to, find all of the wine data and stuff like winetricks. So initially, just search your entire harddrive for Wine. EDIT: I also got the FBM to work perfectly and I have no idea how.

Yea I have no idea whats going on with this mod. After I start the game with this brain, the game freezes and shuts down, not even an RTE abort or error message. Is it just because this mod is just too epic or something?

It could be simply because you have too many mods, but aside from that, there's not much advice I can give you.

General Lua implementation problem. It's currently more crash-prone than pure .ini. Not much TLB can do, nor you.

:( This mod crashes cortex command for me. After setting up the brain and playing around with this cortex command would black screen and crash.

Also when the mod crashes cortex command it says:

Cortex Command.exe - Application Error

The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000005) occurred in the
application at location 0x005d80f7

click on OK to terminate the program



Help please i really like this mod ):

It just happens, the lua involved makes it hacky and unstable.
Using things like the lasso and physics cursor crashes it for me a lot.

Okay, this is getting somewhat misleading.

The problem is not, inasmuch, with the code used in this mod. TLB is pretty damn fantastic in terms of code optimization, and rest assured he's done as much as he can.

The reason this mod causes crashes is because Data's implementation of Lua and Cortex Command itself (specifically, its garbage collection/memeory management) do very poorly in terms of RAM usage.

On lower end computers with lower amounts of free memory, you're more likely to run out of available memory in the course of regular play. Then you get segfaults, or CC just crashes, or funky Lua errors.

It's not a problem with the mod; it's just that the mod, to have the functionality you all want, has to contain certain functions that use more memory than the game does by itself.

So then we come back around to the idea of a "lite" version for low-end compuuters, but TLB has already said that it wil have very little content in it... so is it worth losing all most of those crashes and most of the mod as well?

Maybe TLB should release it anyway to se if it's enough to stand alone by itself?

That version already exists. To use it, just don't use the tools that make your computer crash. If your response to that is that all of them make your computer crash, then there's not much I can do.

Good answer. If people just don't do anything that crashes their game, then they get what is effectively a custom lite version specific for their machine. I guess this is a fix to any problem.
