Re: Art Dump
I think it's going to have physics-influenced construction using modules or pieces. Which appeals to me very much.

Re: Art Dump
http://losingreception.110mb.com/Prelude/should've done it this way from the start. Duh, cheers for the hotlinking attempt regardless Building is going to be using tiles just like the current terrain. You're only going to be able to build on tiles directly adjacent to you, not sure how I'll handle the player standing on seams, I'll probably just not let them build solid blocks. I'll probably buff up the tile's HP a little, as currently pretty much as soon as they're missing any support they collapse cheerfully, but that can happen later. I'll work on player movement after I write some of my seminar today, hopefully get clambering up ledges going on. NO WASD MOVEMENT: this game is going to be keyboard controlled and use the mouse for menus only. The mouse doing stuff in game is just for testing.

Also, I kind of like how it is. It kind of gives off an impression of constant insecurity, like the soil is saying "DO NO ♥♥♥♥ WITH ME". And as a final question. What language do you usually use in your games?

Re: Art Dump
Re: WASD - I want to keep everything simple, and part of that is having limited aim angles and the like. Besides, this game is more about building than shooting.
We'll see about the soil HP. I do kind of like the crumbliness of it at the moment.
This is coded in AS3, everything Love related is in Lua. I'll re-learn C++/SDL at some point, I'm sure. I'm just lazy at the moment and AS3 is easy and quick to work with.

Re: Art Dump
Lack of WASD is a complaint you'll probably get a lot, though. Surely you can implement control mapping or something like it, right?

Re: Art Dump
Of course, especially since Flixel does keychecks based on strings. I just don't see the point in using WASD with purely keyboard based control, but that'll surely come under options.

Re: Art Dump
Some people are just comfortable with it, I guess. Also, I hate to rain on the parade, but we should probably stay more or less on the topic of art. Feel free to start a thread about the game, though - seems a lot of people are following its development.

Re: Art Dump
Feels good to draw for the sake of drawing for once I'm mad that I didn't keep the cleaner eyes from the first in the second one though.

Looks good. Being creative for the sake of it is always nice. Image tags on the second one are broken though.

The skirt and eyes make him look a bit homosexual. Hopefully it isn't a she with those feet, arms and face...

Re: Art Dump
The androgyny is intentional. The fact that you believe in gender roles and gender specific clothing is indicative of the backwards state of society. rantrantrant.
