Unnerving tension
I kinda feel that there's a little bit of a tension in the atmosphere here on the forums. Everyone is kinda waiting for B24.
Anybody agree?

I kinda feel that there's a little bit of a sadness in the atmosphere here on the forums. Everyone is kinda depressed Elvis died.
I think this has been discussed quite a bit. The conclusion everyone has come to is "deal with it". Really, what can we do?

I feel happy because soon B23 celebrates a year and a half! It feels like it were only yesterday that concrete-digging-casing bug was reported *sigh*.

Just imagine the look on his face when he receives a mutilated gas tube.

Re: Unnerving tension
Is there really anything significant to be added in B24? Is Data going to add some kind of pixie dust and cocaine cocktail that makes the AI competent? Is he going to fix LUA's ineptitudes? Is it just going to be a content update?

Re: Unnerving tension
I feel that considering Arne's posts and the amount of polish the vanilla content doesn't have in B23, there's a lot of work to do. But yeah, I think a better path would be to have two lines of release, beta and dev, where dev is a constant stream of the buggy updates coming from the developers each week. The idea of a beta period is to get constant testing while you work on stuff, but the problem is we kind of do all the testing that's possible very quickly. It took what, 12 minutes before we realised bitmaps didn't work?

Data's going to make the AI open to LUA modders in B24, or so I heard.

Hahah, I severely hope that isn't the case, Paul. Though, you never do know, with the frequency he updates his twitter feed...
These forums need a distinction between PMing someone and making a post, what with the flood limit.

Re: Unnerving tension
I wonder if the AI will eventually be edited by modular means. Like a flowchart, or the system in Roboforge. If you know what i mean.

Re: Unnerving tension
Out of interest, between which two builds was the longest gap? I'd like to think that a year and three months is the longest gap there has been without a build.
Also, do we have any actual confirmation that Data has done anything over the past year aside from make a few mockups and blog posts? I mean, for all we know it could be an elaborate a façade.

Re: Unnerving tension
Sorta seems like Lua is going to get applied to attachables and AI, 4 or more teams will be supported, the sequential metagame will be at a fully functional but early state, and the content is going to get polished nice and shiny, along with some new content, and perhaps features.
Or at least that's what the stuff I've seen suggests will happen in some future build.
Numgun suggested there would be tremendous compatibility issues between b23 and b24, but, the post had a trollface in it, and it's numgun, so I'm not so sure on the credibility of that.
Should be a good build, and yeah, there does seem to be some tension and quiet anticipation going around. It's also a matter that a lot of people are losing interest, since there's not much going on here to keep them around. So there's another reason that not a lot is going on community-wise.
