Muscular man with greying hair. Hard chin-line and face. Rather plain and unremarkable clothing. Stance which is completely still, with only his clothes moving.
Attacks are extremely quick, and his movements reveal the underside of flaps on his clothing, which is bright red.
Quick attacks balanced out by movement being in quick, separate steps (he'll sort of hop instead of walking) and his block stance only lasting a few frames before going back to normal stance (meaning you have to have incredible timing to block).

Can't forget the obligatory tank character. Y'know, large and strong guy who is really tough but somewhat slow, yet will make you regret ever letting him get his hands on you. Kinda like Zangief from Street Fighter. I know it's kind of generic, but there's just something special about being a big lug that makes people run away with good reason. :U
He'd probably be either a cyborg or some sort of superhuman, because there's no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ way an ordinary big guy could take on a combat robot or super mutant in a fight. He's an unarmed fighter, and his moves are somewhat slow and pack a wallop. Also has lots of health to balance his low speed. He should have some painful throws too, else he wouldn't be a proper tank character. Fighting style isn't very elegant, focusing mainly on hitting hard. Anticipating his strong attacks isn't all that difficult, but failing to do so is going to hurt a lot. Getting into throwing range is VERY dangerous. Finally, i have no idea what to call him. Hrodgeir?

I think he could be a result of a failed experiment with genetic mutation, because it made his mind go ding-dong. He only remembers that he was made to kill and his name was Doug the Tank.

He could be wearing a Power Suit, kinda like Power Armour that Space Marines wear, so he would control his armour like it would be a part of him. The leg armour just would be rusted for being abandoned into a swamp and walking there for weeks before finding his way out of there. This makes him slow.

Oh, and his finishing blow would be a close range built-in heavy shotgun shot to the face while holding the enemy in place with his feet on the enemys throat.

Sounds pretty good if you ask me, except for the name. Hrodgeir > Doug, y'know? Also, he should totally resemble a viking somehow. Maybe viking-like power armor. Personally i'd be shitting my pants if i were being chased by a huge guy in viking power armor. I imagine that his super move would be a grab that deals an insane amount of damage, but is somewhat short ranged. Something like, he grabs his opponent with one hand and punches him/her/it multiple times in the head with the other hand, after which he slams them violently into the ground. He then jumps WAY up and comes crashing down cannonball style, right on top the knocked down foe.

I think a more fitting special move would be to grab the enemy's head and kick the enemy square in the face with his armoured knee.

Also, I was thinking of this Viking-like Chaos Marine Power Armour.

Well, the tank dude's gotta have a devastating bear hug. Maybe when you grab you bear hug, but then punch some more buttons, you be punching your opponent while you hug.

And he has and interesting shade of purple for his shoulder pads.

It's not really DEAMON-WARP purple, it's more like "Fluffy pink pillow" purple.

Ooh. Scary.

Allright, how about we limit the characters to ones based on belief/occult/paranormal/philosophical stuff? For example the Cake was actually a modified Golem. Ehh, the irony. And Crescendo could be representing the Arabic supernatural world?
What do you guys think?

Perhaps a cybernetically enhanced undead knight from the Teutonic Order in the medieval age enhanced with clockwork to improve his striking power with his sword and his endurance to stop him from crumbling into a pile of bones, who now wields a sword in his hunt for revenge on his creators, (Who are necromancers with the main idea of overthrowing Christendom (The only force capable of stopping the undead army, by using the power of good to defeat the undead.), to herald in a new age of death, and endless rule for the immortal necomancers.) those who brought him back to this world, where he feels the endless pain of his deathless march accross all of creation?

And heres a image for the basic idea for another of my characters

Whould you believe C.A.K.E came from the robot version?

Name: Vorna
Gender: Female
Basic Appearance:
Image
Weapons: Szabla, Rapier, Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife.
Fighting Style: Szabla: Quick strikes. Rapier: Used when the enemy also has a fencing weapon. Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife: Used for defensive purposes.
Back Story: When she was 7 her family went on a trip, and a year later they were still on that trip. Her parents dropped her and her sister off at their grandparents house, but Vorna didn't have good first impressions. She ran away and dyed her green hair yellow so her parents wouldn't recognize her, and followed them. Not much later, her parents were attacked and killed by 3 mercenaries. Being the ISFJ that she was, she ran in to help her parents, but the mercs attacked her and left her for dead.
An herbalist found her and healed her. She then requested training in fighting, so that she could defend herself should the mercenaries find her. The old herbalist agreed. Once she thought she was trained enough, she snuck away and started looking for the mercs. She is now willing to do anything to get to them (And yes her ISFJ personality still fits).

So maybe our tank guy could be a huge Nordic wrestler (still named Hrodgeir) who somehow got possessed by a physically tremendous demon, which then made him even bigger and stronger (and demonic looking), but also turned him into an insane mass-murderer? That would explain most characteristic tank traits, anyways. It would also explain why he'd be so eager to kill everyone. Fighting style is the same as i described earlier, which is very brutal but lacking in finesse and speed. A bone-crushing bearhug (as you mentioned) as well as the ability to throw people right across the stage should be mandatory. His stronger/strongest attacks might send people flying, though this could be impractical for keeping people close.

A retired US soldier with no legs who walks on crutches. The crutches are also guns. He has a jetpack.

An old British wizard in a tuxedo, who fights with a giant book always floating in front of him.

A deranged Japanese schoolgirl with a pet tentacle monster.

A French mime who is so good at what he does that what he mimes comes true.

A Venetian teenage girl who fights with a gondola pole.

... all ideas for an "extreme stereotypes" idea I've had since highschool.

Darlos, those characters are so much win.
So simple, so effective, so much funnier than "serious" game characters.

Don't forget that the Japanese schoolgirl also uses PSIONIC MIND POWERS and can transform into a MAGICAL SCHOOLGIRL. XD

Nah, tentacle schoolgirl is already enough. Make it a bearded, middle-aged man who can use PSYONIC POWERS to transform into a MAGICAL BEARDED MAN with a japanese superhero outfit.

I think my favorite thing ever is a solid combination of serious and funny. Like, were I to write a story with characters like that, they'd actually be well rounded interesting characters, if incredibly bizarre.

Honestly, I don't have an idea for a grappler. Which is odd, considering grapplers are always my favorite characters.
