Re: Art Dump
It's based off the "Death Korps of Krieg" regiment from Warhammer 40,000. They wear greatcoats and gas masks because their home planet is covered in nuclear fallout.

Re: Art Dump
matty: are speys muhreen's hands inconsistent in size? because that pistol grip is way smaller than the handguard
also, nitpicking kind of a lot, that barrel is huge compared to the size of the magazine; it looks like one magazine holds maybe seven rounds with a whole lot of wasted space due to the extreme curvature
and the lack of a shoulder stock irks me, but I realize that's faithful to the original w40k bolters

Re: Art Dump
In fact the handguard is only a little larger than the grip, methinks it's an illusion. The magazine, well i might re-do that. Bolter rounds are pretty big. And I'm guessing they sit slightly overlapped like in real magazines. Pfft spess muhrens don't need stocks. But for a more down to earth style i might put one on, however I always thought the large shoulder armour would make using a stock difficult. Ah well.

Ah well. Not to mention unnecesarry because you can just put it up to your shoulder. (grabs nearest speesh marine.....) Anyway, what kind of bolter is that? Don't the more common patern bolters have shorter barrels, see through ribbed mags and a ejector port that is next to the size of the barrel?

Re: Art Dump
Don't bolters fire rocket-propelled rounds anyway? Do they actually need an ejection port? Also, doesn't that render the gas tube unnecessary? Edit:I assume you're using this image for reference. In which case, it looks like that should be a charging handle, not an ejection port.

Re: Art Dump
I've lengthened the barrel to make use of the gas operated mechanism in my version. I did a little research on the bolter and it's ammunition. Bolts have rocket propelled bullets, thus reducing the amount of propellant needed, because of this i figured a blowback mechanism might not cut it. BUT i seemed to had forgotten that Bolts are still big, and probably have more recoil and force anyway. Uh, let's just say it uses stiff mechanics. A diagram, anyway. Will explaing the ejection port: As for the type of bolter, well it's just one tweaked to my liking. And using a latin translator, I'll call it The Novus Aevum Bolterthey do use Rocket propelled bullets, but the first stage is a cartridge, that sets the actual bullet going. And charging handle isn't on yet. I think that's everything covered.
