Exactly how many contest will we have? Was this the last one? If not, how many more?

IMHO, the mod contests are the best way to see new and epic things for CC pop up.

There will be many more contests in the future, not sure how many.

Also, I'm having some computer problems that won't get fixed anytime soon. I'll do my best at running the contest, but the mod request prize will be delayed until I can start modding again.

The next theme should be balanced, to make up for this one's theme.

Isn't that up to the winner? If suggestions are being taken I'd suggest "transportation".

If suggestions are welcome, I say transportation sounds good, or maybe "Infection" to do something like Tiberium. (Loved the mod, hated the lag) or Creeper Vines (Terrain-infecting goodness)

And what is the prize for winning again? Not sure if I ever saw it mentioned.

Oh yeah, zalo's entry was disqualified because it was submitted passed the submission time. He's okay with it, and still kinda "won" with his high ratings.

To answer your question, if zalo's entry wasn't disqualified it probably would've won first place.

A 9.18 sort of indicates a serious problem with the popular vote ranking system.

I mean, nothing against Azukki, but the fact that people blindly post LOL 10/10 BEST MOD EVER all the damn time is a little troubling to the idea of any kind of "official, rational, reliable" scoring system.

I understand what you're saying, but I can't really think of a better system at the moment. PM'ed ratings might not work; I don't know how many people are willing to type up a short PM for that.

Once we get polls up, perhaps we can do old-style scoring where you choose your favorite entry.

No offense taken grif, I actually agree with you quite a bit.

The wrecking ball certainly isn't 10/10 material. It isn't tremendously aesthetically pleasing, it has absolutely no original audio, it's a one-trick pony, etc. It's a good mod that fits the theme well, yeah, but it's no 10. I'd say the same applies to Zalo's EotT, which rated higher. Great mod, still not a 10.

I think the old setup for contests was quite a lot more fair, although I do recognize that it would be more work, especially with broken forum polls. Maybe CC48 could get an authorized alt' for the sake of the poll, and people would PM this alt to vote for their favorite of the mods. (This makes votes have more equal bearing, instead of polarized opinions counting more heavily than moderate opinions, which is how ratings work out)
Releasing stuff anonymously and simultaneously were also beneficial to fairness, but again, it'd be more work.


Anyways, I like contrary's theme suggestion of TRANSPORTATION, but I'm not sure if I like it more than ACHILLES HEEL.
I'll be deciding some time on the weekend. Until then, discuss, and I'll consider your opinions.

It's pretty horrible with all the small fries flying by and rating the mod that pops up first the best, then not even rating.
Maybe have so one has to rate every single one of the entries atleast?

Well if some of the regulars would be willing to be judges we wouldn't have a problem like this. We would however, have problems with accusations of favouritism, etc., however.
Though I'm not really sure that we'd have enough regulars simultaneously in high regard, willing to do judging and with the time to do it to form a full-ish panel.

How was Eye of the Tiger disqualified? It was posted before the end of the 14th, which I think is before the end date.
It was edited to have a feature around the 16th since everyone was begging for it, though that shouldn't disqualify it since that was after the contest ended, no?
