its way easyer then normal painting when you get used to it.
btw, mind, the one i got was the bamboo pen/multitouch, and it cost 100 $. so far it seems worth it.
also fun with google sketchup.

Edit:
Exile concept with pad! so much easyer than mouse!

Good like industry premium? ~600-1k. More than acceptable for anything you'll really ever need? ~200-400 AUD.

I've got a bamboo fun, good enough for me. Just don't let siblings near it. I have no idea how but mine's etched permanently. Don't let many people near it anymore.

Bamboos are like ~100 AUD now, Geti. Though I got mine from Taiwan. It actually wasn't that much cheaper.

My, how times change in a year. I really should've googled happily for it beforehand, apologies. Comment about siblings/idiot roommates/whatever holds.

I have a tablet, but i can't seem to use it like a pencil on paper. Probably because i'm really used to moving the paper around a lot.

In photoshop you can rotate and scale and flip and whatever your view, it's handy. Using a tablet is a matter of practice, I'm still better on paper when it comes to sketching than I am with my tablet, but I'm adept enough at photoshop to get around that easily enough. Undo is my buddy.

I have a really old ArtPad II that pops got for less than the fair price (WaCom didn't know how much of a success on the market it would be, and prices shot up miles after about a month of being available in-stores) but now I can't use it because of Windows 7 and because there are no drivers for it available online anymore. Also, I can't put it onto my laptop because I have no serial-usb converter. The ArtPad II is far superior to most (all?) of the Bamboo tablets, in the way of pressure depth. I also disapprove of the bamboo tablets on which you can use your fingers, but that's just me.

Surely you can find some open source drivers for it?

Searched the google all over the place. The drivers are non-existent (for Windows 7 at least).
If you want to try and find something, go ahead.
