Wine is, as you all know, the Windows virtual box for Linux.
Also, Cortex Command has been sucessfully run on Wine.
Additionally, Android is a Linux-based OS. (right?)
So.
Somehow get Wine or something similar onto Android, then attempt to play Cortex Command on your smartphone.
OHWAIT YOU GUIZ ITS A PHONE
Yes, it's a phone, but a lot of the phones now have 1Ghz processors and 512MB of RAM. Mine does. HTC Incredible, look it up.

Not sure how viable it would be considering it's pretty average performance on this laptop with 1.5GB RAM and 1.8GHz CPU, but try it; assuming technical ability.

Does CC run in Windows 95? I'd assume so, but you know, that ♥♥♥♥ is old.

Assuming you've got some ability to run directX 7, probably. I'm considering running a virtualbox over my linux, as wine itself refuses to run CC <_<

Yeah, from what I've heard is that Wine is spotty at best, and CC isn't too happy running on it.

Wine and a Smartphone? Could lead to some hardware issues, Wine may not support drivers etc.

It's a long-shot at best.

Err. Technically it's a compatibility layer. And it only works for running x86 windows stuff on x86 OSes. I'm pretty sure that your HTC has an ARM based processor.
Though some real emulator will do the trick.

It'll probably be like running vista on a ps3. Sure, it runs fine, but the boot time is about half an hour.

That's an ARM architecture processor.
WINE is not going to work for this in any reasonable way.
It's essentially a re-written Windows kernel, implementing calls differently to eliminate the need for official Windows components -- that's why it is legal to use, and can be made free. I have never seen a port of it to non-x86 architecture, though I also have never looked for one, though I have been using WINE for at least 7 years.

native windows will basically by default run a windows-compiled game/program better than a non-identical pseudo-emulator

That is the logical choice, but some people claim to get better performance through linux.

Well for now I just need to find some kind of Windows emulator for Android 2.1.1

I got better performance under arch linux on this 10 year old laptop vs the XP that was installed on it before wine died.

On older machines I have gotten better performance in a non-demanding Linux instal than a bog-standard Windows XP install. The machine I used last like that was a Pentium 4, which feels ancient now. The speed difference was noticeable, but not game-changing by any means. Crab bombs and big explosions are basically the same.
However, what little benefit you can find goes out the window with modern hardware, and at a certain point (like a core i7 macbook pro) no OS seems to even impact it, I just cannot see a difference in performance. There might be one, but I'll be damned if I can detect it with reasonable certainty.
