[WIP] Forerunner Map (Tailered to B24!)
YAY!!! B24 is out!!! After downloading B24(YAY!!!), the first thing you'd notice is the old man with abs and no brain, the second is that most scenes and activities don't work anymore with the new layout! but never fear! Fail is here with an updated version of Forerunner!, now with more sand!, more gold!, and more madness*! *madness not included NEW!!! And da pic "the gold looks ok while playing!" Old stuff deleted by popular demand!

There seems to be a distinctive lack of a link to download your creation.

I'm not sure you understand how a scene "release" works. Anyway, I'm assuming you haven't made any changes to the map since you posted in Scene Making. Attachment:

File comment: Here's the map. I tweaked it so it works. And made it so there's no floating gold. And even more stuff that I won't mention.

Now I don't go on here much. But I'm pretty sure that's not allowed.

You've either misnamed scenes.ini, or included the wrong file in the index.

Oh? no one likes it... great.
This is a WIP and, this WAS going to be the base for a mission, so (i may have to move this topic soon) what would you guys want in a map\mission? Don't like the cavern? Bigger? (longer? higher?) I'm open to all constructive criticism.

Re: [WIP] Forerunner (yes a Halo reference(WIP, ie, just a map)
Here's the main issues I'm seeing here: Your main post is telling me that I need to make my own scene. That's a little odd - most people will come in here, see that, and instantly ignore it. If you've already fixed that, remove the notice from the first post, and if not, fix it. The level itself is really not all that interesting. It's a flat piece of land with a flat cave. The idea is good (a piece of land and caves under it) but playing on it in CC isn't exciting at all. The main issue is that Cortex Command is a horizontally-scrolling shooter, meaning it often relies on the map for interesting vertical patterns. Since this map only really has 2 vertical levels, you end up with long lines of units shooting each other by accident, which doesn't make for very interesting gameplay. I would strongly suggest working some kind of cavern system into the underground portion of the map, and adding some hills on the top side. It seems like you're planning on the underground being the main attraction, so make it attractive. Large amounts of sand in CC looks bad most of the time. You'll notice that almost every well-known map has very shallow sand, and only in patches. If the sand is deep or spans large areas, it usually has a custom texture. The reason is that the sand in CC is very white, and lacks depth in its texture. What ends up happening is that the top of your level is very hard to look at because of the sand's brightness. As well, since sand is a weak material, units will sink into it. Lastly, every dirt section of your map has a little brown border around it. I can tell you're trying to imitate the vanilla CC maps, but you'll notice that in vanilla maps that border is always on top of the dirt and exposed to the air. The reason is that that line of dirt (called "Topsoil" by its material name) is what grass and plants grow on in-game. Underground it isn't of any use, nor is it of use under sand. I suggest you have some patches of grass up top (even if it's a desert, there's bound to be some vegetation) and replace the rest with normal dirt. Once again, the main reason is that it's a mushy material, but the other issue is that it looks a bit out of place next to other dirt textures when there's no plants in it. Hopefully that's helpful. I know it's kind of a wall o' text, but give it a read anyway.

Re: [WIP] Forerunner (yes a Halo reference(WIP, ie, just a map)
Thanks, that was very helpful and from one post i now have much more feedback then i was expecting to get (that's good thing) I will probably post an updated version of the map by Wednesday give or take a few days. The next version will be grasslands style with hills (little or no sand) , cavern entrances, and less cavern and more CAVE-ern, Hahaha...ha..ha.....ehem. but to start towards the finished product, it will have to (or rather i want it to) have a theme. Desert with custom texture? Jungle with bg trees? "there's something beneath the ice. Made of metal." style? (Matthew Riley reference) Space?!?!?
any other suggestions or ideas for setting?

Ugh, christ. I've already tweaked the map to make it fully usable without all the ♥♥♥♥ he's telling you to do. Just put mine on the OP until you've "updated" yours.
