I don't see anything wrong with continuing to make Mario platformers (or any other franchise) twenty thousand times, as long as it's fun. If they're not fun then the matter will resolve itself, like in the case of all the Sonic 3d games.

Not really; that was just the final straw in a long succession of crappy nintendo games.

Then why not just play the good games?
Every game company has their bad games, though nintendo is not the maker of most of the bad games on their consoles.
