Re: gmawd
Well I've never played with SPD, but it does look interesting. For all its shortcomings, I really do like GCombat. You get (semi)nice sounds and (semi)nice effects with your weapons. What else are you going to be left with if you remove that in favor of SPD? The turret?
I do think, however, that SPD would be a great addition for BattleBots-type fights. That way you can have flippers and crushers and blades and oh my!

You can make a very accurate spin stabilised rocket with the PHX explosives and a couple of thrusters. Again though, I'd be more than willing to have a go at frankensteining some code together in the pursuit of more weapons.

Re: gmawd
I kinda like the notion of having to use completely manufactured weaponry; gcombat is both finicky and a bit cheating.

Re: gmawd
Yeah alright. Fair enough. Gcombat will be present, but not enabled. SPD will be present and enabled, but toggled off at the command line by default.

Great success! I think the immediate loss of options regarding Blowing ♥♥♥♥ Up will be enormously offset by the long term increase in Blowing ♥♥♥♥ Up innovation which I predict as a result of this decision.

Re: gmawd
So the server is basically almost set up. If anyone has any experience with configuring a Gmod dedicated server to serve addons (through sv_downloadurl) please PM me. I think I've got it working, but its incredibly inelegant and documentation on this crap is basically non-existent. Current server official addon list will be amended to this post and posted on the Facebook group and I guess the DRL steam group. Naturally, said list is flexible. Now let me take this opportunity to set something straight. I haven't hung around here recently and I don't have a feel for the current forum culture, so I don't know if it needs to be said, but allow me to be clear: mingebags will be banned. Direct, intentional disruption of another player's legitimate activities will not be tolerated. The Commandments:- Intentionally disrupting, destroying, sabotaging, or otherwise ♥♥♥♥ with any other player's props or assets will earn the victim express control over the aggressor's fate. Be it jail, kick, ban or any other game-based punishment, the decision will stand unless overturned by the victim or server owner.
- Unintentional disrupting, destroying, sabotaging, or otherwise ♥♥♥♥ with a single player's props or assets will earn a reprimand with action only being taken on repeated "accidental" disruptions.
- Unintentional, repetitive, or deliberate disruption of the entire server, (i.e. intentional spawning of an asset known to severely lag or crash the server or not warning others before you do something you think might lag or crash the server), large scale prop destruction, or any other map-wide disruption by any means will earn the perpetrator a temporary ban from the server.
- Disruptive behavior during a match or event will be cause for immediate ejection from said match and a ban until the event is over.
- Anything else I didn't freaking think of.
Like I said, I don't know a lot of you, so hopefully that is not required, but if it is, there it is in writing. Above all, if your fun impedes others' ability to have fun, you and I will have problems.

Re: gmawd
As promised and without further ado, here is the full addon list for the server*: (Bold indicates a "required" download.)- Wire/Advanced Duplicator - SVN
- Buoyancy STool - v1.1
- the Evolve admin mod - SVN
- PHX3 - SVN
- Simple Prop Protection - v1.5
- Smart Weld - v2.1
- Smart Constraint - v1.2.2
- Spacebuild 3
- Simple Prop Damage
- Stacker STool - v2.2
- TNT entity - v1.0
- Weight STool - v1.21
Installed maps: Don't feel like you need to go out and download all these or anything, the server can provide them. Think of this as a menu.- gm_bigcity
- gm_construct
- gm_construct_flatgrass_v5
- gm_flatgrass
- gm_flatgrass_revolution - (default)
- ♥♥♥♥
- gm_megastruct_revolution
- gm_ps_hugeflatconstruct
- gm_ps_trains_v2
- sb_binarysystem
- sb_brushenvtest
- sb_omegasystem_sb25test
- sbd_dynamic
You may commence the pleas and outrage at this time. *I highly suggest you download all of them for your offline play, son. I also highly recommend you give Addonissimo a try. Its a pretty slick addon management tool.

Re: gmawd
You dont need to download serverside lua-only stools, and where are the unofficial extras.
Does the server have fast-dl or are you expecting everyone to install that load of maps?

I will bold those that should be downloaded. And what extras were you referring to? Wire Extras? And yes, I have FastDL (theoretically), but no, I don't expect to ever play half of the maps listed, they're simply available should we want to.

Re: gmawd
Does anyone have a link to the latest version of Spacebuild? And is this the TNT entity? The Commandments sound fine and dandy, but I shouldn't think it'll be an issue.

Re: gmawd
Yup, it is. More TNT = Bigger boom, and bigger boom radius.
I think Spacebuild 3 is SVN only... Why does nobody like direct downloads?
